How's your January?

I've had more closing requests than I could handle and nearly on a daily basis since last Spring. Now suddenly January has come close to a halt. It seems based on prior months' tallys that when one part of the country is slow another will be booming. So who's booming this month and who isn't? I, for one am not!

Like you, came to a complete halt from last month.

I have been crazy busy since August - all the way up to Dec 31st. First week of January was slow but I still had a few closings. This week my business has screeched to a halt.

Dec was strong and Jan has continued to be very good, hope it continues.

Oh sure Dennis - your going strong, and that's only because we here in Illinois have elected idiots. All the business and people are moving East in droves. I loved your governors quote, comparing us to the Simpsons (your dis-functional neighbors).
I have slowed considerably since Jan.

I shut down in mid December and just got back this past Monday. Very slow so far, but then it's only the first half of the month...

I had a very strong start to this month but this week has been relatively quiet. I don't think this is unusual. We're likely experiencing a lull from a combination of two things: the reduction in new originations that happens over the holidays when most people are busy with lots of things other than getting a new loan, and the uptick in interest rates that occurred a short while back.

Here's hoping it picks up again soon!

Must be that online Notary business taking away all the jobs.

Re: How's your January? JMO but I think it may have to do..

JMO but I think it may have to do with the fact that...States were required to enact SAFE laws that will bring their mortgage loan originators into compliance with the SAFE Act no later than December 31, 2010. They all needed to pass some knid of test. JMO

Since come back 2 months ago

I have to say it's a nice surprise. When I stopped I was getting 5 closings a month. January started slow but by the 7th it's been fairly steady everyday.

Still busy here in North Alabama - has been since about October. This month hasn't slowed any and turned down a couple at the first of the week because of snow which is very abnormal here.

Just a so-so month so far. Doesn't look like it's going to be great but, who knows in this crazy business?

Been slow the last couple of weeks. However, the phone has been ringing off the hook the last couple of days. I now have about 5 closings scheduled for next week thus far.

January has been surprisingly busy. I have been averaging 3 a day, two days had 5. Today only 2. Had one each Saturday so far as well and quite a few calls for general notary work. I have turned down about 5 up north for long travel times with insufficient fees.

It's been slow here in Western Wisconsin

January is usually slow because most companies are getting their final paperwork for year end taxes rapped up from last year. It ususally starts at a trickle and then in February it starts picking up. So open the flood gates. I'll be waiting in my boots. Let's just hope this be a year of plenty.
