Sure they are taking Europe vacations and funding their kids 529 plans at our cost. We can't work at a loss guys!

I don't normally make comments unless I can offer something constructive. Your evaluation of the profitability of this assignment should not be viewed as a standalone order. You can accept and make money on their $65 fee in this instance if you are doing multiple signings daily and you have multiple signings in that area. So instead of a 60 mile roundtrip it turns into a 10-15 mile trip. It's all about multiple orders covering small distances. That's what you get when dealing with Service Link and National Link while running your busines as a business. I will agree that you cannot make money on these fees if you are a low volume mobile notary.

actually we have one in the area with another company at that time. i just refuse to set a precedent of a 30 mile away from my office closing at 65.00.

not to mention their files are huge and they want 50+ pages of fax backs.

how many signings my company does a day or week is irrelevant. if i go visit my mother who lives 50 miles away and there is a closing at the neighbors house should i do it for 50 dollars? absolutely not.

Your post was not remotely constructive, unless you want to alert everybody that you're doing your best to keep the lo-ballers in business. They must love u. Back-slappin' each other as soon as you take their crappy job. Sucka! they're saying. I can just hear them... and the "volume theory" has been soundly discredited on this board many times.

I understand this is the co. that decided it's no longer

paying an e-doc fee. I don't work with them, but my response would be that's fine & then you can overnight the docs. I don't print doc pkgs. for free.

actually that was EDOCS included lol.

i forgot to mention. Nlink cant get docs out on time if their life depended on it. let alone a day in advance.

I don't give discounts because...

I am already at that location; sometimes one gets cancelled and I still need to drive all the way over there. Every single signing gets a 2 way trip charge. I don't give discounts because when I get a signing and I am already in that particular city and I just print in my car all docs. My equip. in my car works in my advantage not in the escrow/ss/tl advantage, I paid for it and it has to work in my favor.

Agreed Calnotary

I shipped a Teddy Bears to my niece this morning; 50 bucks! No Fed Ex discount because they happened to be going that way anyway...!!

Bought a cup of coffee at Starbucks this morning...no discount because they happen to making lots of cups of coffee anyway...

I have a Brother MFC, laptop and a purewave inverter. Total investment is around 2400.00 dollars.
Not worth it right now. Not enough business to have all that money invested there. Mine it paid by it self already but if you want to start right now it will take you years to recoup your investment.

*Update*

Got a call about 6 hours later saying my fee had been approved. Looks like they gave in this time.

Talked with the scheduler a bit and they said that they are not a fan of this either. Apparently they have been inundated with emails. Also, they said people used to be happy to hear from them and now everyone is very angry thus making their job very difficult. They also said it was taking them hours to schedule closings that normally took 15 minutes.....

Yes!!!!! Great news!!

If it's taking them that long to fill orders, hopefully at some point the low fees will no longer be a cost-effective policy and they'll have to rethink it if they want to stay in business. Smile

Re: *Update*

It's been suggested before about contacting vendor management about these fee issues.
The schedulers are only trying to do their job.
