Chase and fax backs

I declined do a signing because Chase wants fax backs now. The last Chase loan I did was 138 pages with no fax backs. I don't know how I feel, but I feel good (good not great) about declining the assignment. I think notaries should decline them more and more. I triple check my work prior to shipping the docs. Why can't they hire competent notaries, and get rid of the fax back issue all together. How do you feel about it? After a long day, do you want to deal with faxing back documents?

Was it investment property? On Chase loans, if it's investment property, they usually want "critical" docs faxed so they can close ASAP...

I agree, I faxback on investment properties only. All others will just get the package back UNLESS the company pays for faxbacks.

I did a signing yesterday at 7:30 p.m. which was 151 pages (302 in total). The call didn't come in until 4:30 p.m. so not much time do anything. After being out all day long starting at 5:00 a.m., it makes for a long, long day. I thought the purpose of a priority overnight shipping label was to expedite the process as well. I would think the agencies can wait for the hard copy package to arrive. Maybe, I am wrong.

You really have to judge how it will affect your bottom line by turning down work, especially from a steady customer. Your call though.

Re: Only fax backs are investments with Chase

I work with Chase signings regularly meeting the borrower at one of the local branches or at their home, "at minimum 3 times per week", they will not request fax backs unless as you stated, it involves investment properties and that rarely happens, at least with my experience with them anyway.
Their packages are not that horrendous and when called upon to do so, I have no problem faxing them the info requested.

When I scan critical docs for investment, it turns out so

large it will not send. What do you do that makes it 'sendable?'

Re: When I scan critical docs for investment, it turns out so

I have had that problem too and have had to break the file into several smaller files in order to send. Then I recently saw this message and I think this is the reason for my problem:

Msg #428605

I set my scanner to OCR "OFF" and it scans so much faster now. I have not had any large faxbacks requested since I made the change on my scanner settings, but I bet the next large file will go through with no problems.

If you have Adobe Acrobat you can reduce the file size

Open the file
Click on "Document"
Click on "Reduce File Size"

check you printing/scanning settings. I don't have Acrobat

but still have the capability in my scanning program to reduce size and save as pdf. You might also try reducing your resolution.
Another issue can be the size doc your ISP allows in their emails. For example, Gmail allows larger attachments than comcast, my ISP.
good luck!

Reducing resolution is how I solved it.

They have to be able to read it, but 300 works pretty good and makes the file smaller.

I think it's fine if it's a funding issue, but for signings after 5PM it shouldn't be an issue.
That said, I will charge extra for fax-backs and the package will not go out until the next day, since it would require me to go back out again from home... been thinking about the scanner app for my iphone to do faxbacks... might eliminate the problem and the delays...

Re: Robert-I meant this comment for you :)

I already carry a portable image scanner, which is not too slow, but does save everything as a jpg, so makes huger files that sometimes can't be emailed easilly...

I use an IRIScan like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003JTHMRI/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=20110533235&hvpos=1t3&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1001945609578744296&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_5ko5s6xk7h_b

Just looking to use my phone instead in some cases...
