FOR ALL THAT ORDERED PAPER !!!!!!!!!!!

I just called market place

888-999-3600. The ad should have read 500 sheets! I was the first to call and alert them. I am to get a credit for the amount paid and will get to keep the paper sent.... I called buy.com 1st, Japan I think, they gave me the market place number. I was told it was a mistake. GOOD LUCK!!! Call and demand you will get something!!!

That was my gut feeling, but I read the ad several times.

I'm certainly not paying $52 for 4 reams of paper!!!

Need to contact Tiger Direct to cancel order...

Their phone number is: 888-999-3600. In case you can't get through, here's their email address, per Buy.com: [e-mail address]. The guy I spoke to just a moment ago confirmed that they would only be sending a ream per $5.96 charged, not a case or "carton". I had no problem getting it cancelled, but I just ordered yesterday, so it hadn't shipped yet.

I called and was told I should refuse the shipment and they will issue a return authorization. After the paper is returned they will credit the charges back.

Yes, that is what I was told

I ordered 10 and if that turns out to be 10 reams instead of 10 cases I can certainly get a better deal than $139.09 for a 10 ream case.

The ad is still up and it says "5,000 Sheets/Carton". If they are selling by the ream, then it should not say CARTON.

Well I can guarantee you that I will get them to honor that. I printed the ad, I have my receipt, I have my shipment confirmation. They WILL honor it, or I will turn em in for major false advertising and what ever I can.

I agree wi bfnotary. When a reseller errors and consumer ordered in good faith based on their advertisements, and confirmations reflect the items orders and credit cards charged, there is nothing, IMO, they can do about it. The least they can do is stop the advertisement immediately, take the loss, and move on. As for working for a manufacturer, this is what we have to do when we inadvertantly issue an error to our dealers.

I see disclaimer correction on ads all the time. Just saw

one the other day from Sam's Club about the misprint on the price of a laptop. No--I don't think they have to honor the price if it's misprinted in an ad.

That may be the case, however, not only was it on the ad, It was also on the confirmation, and the shipment confirmation. They will honor it.

Re: I see disclaimer correction on ads all the time. Just saw

You undoubtedly clicked through terms of use or service during the purchase.

They admit an error.
They are refunding money and offering to solve the problem.
They are not baiting and switching.

I think that is an honest error.

:) Would we agree to work for $10 if there

was a misprint in a confirmation that was not caught immediately? If they sent the docs to us after seeing the $10, would we have to honor it? If they told their friends about it, would we be obligated to honor it in the future to those friends?

I once listed a very rare book on Amazon that was worth $400+. I put $40. It sold immediately, of course. I contacted the buyer right away and explained my mistake. She was eager to pay the $400, I countered with $350 for her trouble.

If she had demanded the $40 price, I would have told her to open a dispute. Forget it. Good luck with that. Report me to the DOJ and the AG. One ad stated in error does not make a case of false advertisement.

Put off ordering yesterday thinking "too good to be true." Today, when people were getting their shipping notifications, finally put in my order for 4 (cases, I thought).

Well, just now get back from signing and see the news! Called the number listed by JanetK CA above to cancel. No problem. The guy I spoke to was well aware of situation, cancelled order immediately.

Aw well ... it was worth a try. Back to Sam's Club for ~$45 for a case ...........

I just had a phone conversation with Customer Service

at Buy.com. They are contacting the seller, TigerDirect, to clarify the quantity, since the ad does indicate a "carton" and not a "ream". She said she'll call me or email me the status after they get it clarified. She also suggested we contact TigerDirect directly. Unfortunately, I knew I was dealing with a call center somewhere by the amt. of static on the line.
Good for you that you have a copy of the chat.

This is a new company, from Japan, that is an offshoot of a

popular Amazon-type place there. They changed the name for the US market. Hence, the foreign accents.

I talked with Buy.com first - they are going to investigate and will call me back, cancelling if not case.

I then called Tiger Direct and was told that my order was back ordered and would be taking more time before shipping. They have cancelled my order. I told them about both ads having very bad copy (Buy.com and Amazon) and that they needed to get better clarification.

I am not going to even attempt to argue about getting my cases vs. reams. Just not that important to me. Mistakes happen - if you order 10 cases and get one with 10 reams you are going to pay h*ll trying to get the other 9 cases. Just get your refund lined up - w/the possible 10 reams free w/complete refund. I don't think you will get much more...realistically speaking.

My take on this too. Could be a blessing in disguise,

since I don't have any idea where I would have stored 4 cases of paper. LOL
It's been interesting. Tested my "if it's too good to be true" monitor. I should always trust my gut, as they say. LOL

they are going to get ad pulled and speak with the advertiser about this incorrect information. They immediately refunded my money and thanked me for pointing out the error.

Unfortunately I chose to use PayPal to pay for the "case" of paper. That account has been charged for the full $13.06. I've sent an email request, but may also call to see if they'll refund to my PayPal account.
