Quick question about holding dual commissions..

I currently am just a notary in Pa, however soon i will be starting the process of becoming commissioned in Ny, as stated in one of my earlier posts.

My question is this.. I currently have e & o insurance in pa. Will I need to get a seperate policy in Ny, or will my current one cover both?

I thnk you would have to get a new one to cover the dates of your new com. also they usually ask what state your in before giving the quote so I would think just like other types of insurance polices the cost varies depending on location.

insurance covered me regardless of the state I did work in.

Re: I second that ME/NJ. Should have E&O for each

state in which you are commissioned.

Haven't you realized yet that they are only authorities

in distributing bad & incorrect info. You are insuring YOU--I'd have insurance in both states.

2nd thought. The good folks at NR staff will be able to

answer that for you, I think.

Thanks all, That is what I was guessing I would need to do. I guess it is better to be safe than sorry. I am coming up on renewal time soon for the one in pa. But as soon as I finish the NY process, I will be getting e & o for that state too. I definately want to be covered.

Yes. You need one for each state.

Learned early on you can't believe most of what they preach. That's why I cancelled my membership with them years ago. In fact, they are the ones that sold me my first E & O for the three states in which I am commissioned.
