Service Link
Service Link sent an email today stating that my fees are too high. They said the majority of notaries in our county, Thurston county, charge a base fee of $60.00 and that their schedulers always call the notaries that have the lowest base fee.

Let them call those notaries...I have had to redo many loans in the last couple weeks from notaries that either did not show, or had the borrowers at the signing table for longer than an hour and could not explain docs.
I have received emails from several title companies in the last week letting me know I'm a "preferred Chase loan signer" and would I join their company. Sure, but then I receive their package and they want to pay $65.....NO WAY!
Chase likes it that I know what I'm doing and that costs money.

Only calls me for e-signings at $175 minimum.
ServiceLink has told me that I'm approved with them for NYCB e-signings only because my fee is too high for their other signings.
In fact, they called today for an e-signing at 1:30 in Sacramento. Sorry, already have a 2:00 reverse. Half hour later, they call back. Ok, what time will work for me later on today. We agree to a time. She sends confirmation. I googlemap location. It's about 35 miles from me -- my base is 15 mile radius. I email her asking for additional $25. She responds she can only do $175 on this one, so do I still want it. Sorry. Gotta pass on this. "ok. catch you on the next one."
Gas is over the $4 mark now. I've got a business plan and giving away my time and money isn't part of it.

I would love to explain documents to signers. In California a notary may not do that as it is considered the practice of law.

I don't 'explain' docs; I point out the key information and describe each doc. You should be able to do that.

So why are they e-mailing you to tell you this?
I truly do not understand this. If the majority of notaries in your county are taking scraps for fees, then why do they bother to tell you this? To make you feel guilty? To bully you into taking a ridiculous fee so that when the regular bottom-feeders aren't available, they know they can count on you because you've caved?

That is exactly the reason

Please be advised that all notaries in your area are now accepting e-doc standard refinance signings for $10. However if you will send me a onetime nonrefundable fee of $25, I will put you on our “preferred” (red glove) list. Those on our preferred list will be paid (maybe) $70 per assignment. That’s an EXTRA $60.00 per assignment!!! Be first in your area to sign up and get this special offer! We guaranty all ‘red glove’ members a high volume of orders. Please respond before EOM, and don’t lose out on this once in a lifetime offer. (For English please press 3)

It's not all of service link. It's one division.
I'm In King County, which I think is way more saturated with mobile notaries. I charge them fees of more than double that (sometimes FAR MORE)
They called me four times today, sadly, I couldn't accommodate any of the closings due to an already busy schedule.
I don't know which department it is that lowballs because they don't call me any more, but the Anahaiem office calls me all the time, pays fair fees and never gives me trouble, and one of the offices in Pennsylvania calls me all the time.
