do you want a dual tray printer because it can print both

legal and letter if your doc has them or because it holds more paper?

Mainly because it pulls both sizes of paper according to the

pdf file. If you're using a single tray printer you need to print on all legal-size paper & it's an additional cost. It really is cost-effective to have a dual-tray printer.

I have never been able to configure my computer (MAC) and printer (Brother HL-5370DW) to automatically draw from the appropriate legal or letter size filled drawers. Instead, I was able to get approval from SS's to print legal only when assigned jobs from them. Recently, however, I was not so fortunate. I was told the docs needed to be printed on their proper paper size in order to finalize them. I SS was kind enough to e-mail me the page numbers for both the legal and letter size so from there it was easy. This has been my experience.

There has been a lot of posts on this subject so you might want to check out the orange search button as well.

IMO if you're going to do this biz full time,

it's much more professional to print on the respective paper size. Most companies would prefer it, in my experience.

IMO, at the very least if the recordable docs are on the right size paper it's better. Some counties penalize/reject for shrunken or wrong size paper.

I have a Lexmark and spent about an hour on the phone with them and they configured my printer, at no charge.

Call the maker of the printer and see if they will help you over the phone. It was well worth the hour I spent.

I called Brother. For your Brother printer to choose automatically between letter and legal you have to use a PC. They don't make the software for a MAC.

I have, currently, three trays on my both my printers, Lexmark t640's 35 pages a min., as I print two copies at the same time, one 2000 page drawer, one 500 page drawer and the 250 page drawer that is standard, on each. 2000 for letter and 750 for legal, so far, I can add more but this is good for what I do. As far as printing goes I have printed about 125,000 pages this year so far. Get busy and go for it!!!

Maybe a situation like this (Brother printer w/ Mac)

it might be more economincal to look into that Page Separator software...

Just a thought
