Notary Rotary Survey-How many signings completed in 2011?
I would like to conduct an informal survey of Notary Rotary members. I will calculate the averages.
Approximately how many closings did u complete in 2011?
a) 1-50 b) 51-100 c) 101-150 d) 151-200 e) 200+
Thanks. I think the results will be interesting.

The more important answer is not the number of signings,
but the total income earned. It makes no sense for the "how low can you go notary" to sign 500 loans, and the signing agent that knows what they are worth to earn considerably more with far fewer signings.

I agree. This was only meant to be an informal survey. n/m

Re: And what could be the purpose of this survey??
More information is always better than less information.
Most industries publish extensive amounts of annual statistics about their own industry.
But not notaries. So I thought an "informal" survey might be interesting.
Unfortunately, it looks like everyone is scared to answer the question, even with broad ranges.

Not "scared" as you put it, but wise enough not to publish that info for all eyes to see. :-)

Since 2001 I've maintained an excel spreadsheet of all my notary work. Two columns, one for GNW and one for loan signings.
At the end of every month, I divide the total income of LS work for an average. I exceeded 200 signings in 2011, more important is the quality of my vendors and their timely payment and appropriate fees.
Monthly and annually I compare current with previous months/years to determine if I'm improving my business model.
This was a decent year, not the best year ever, but worth staying with it.

I did 183 signings. I could have done more but I teach notary classes/loan-signing classes 6-8 days a month and I usually don't try to do signings on these days.
I had my best year doing GNW work ever and that helped the bottom line.
Not the best year ever, but it was the best year since 2008.

Great response, Cheryl. I've never thought about separating out GNW into a separate spreadsheet, but I might consider doing that in the future. And good idea about comparing to previous years. I've only done that on a sporadic basis. However, I do look at my average fee per signing. (I created my spreadsheets in 2002 or 2003, when scratching it out on paper proved to be too messy... )
Looking at a variety of stats can help us know where we need to focus our efforts. I also set monthly revenue goals and have formulas in my spreadsheets that automatically calculate how much I have to go to hit my target, as I add new assignments.
I've done more than 200 signings this year, too.

Always enjoying a puzzle, your response of "C" means
100 signings. The 'note' in your 'note2010' moniker is the clue I used.
C-note = $100 = 100.
Just tossing in a guess.

D+ it was good in Oregon. Just got to keep on your toes and keep the toner and paper and ink pens in stock. I hope every one is blessed in 2012.

I just figured out the exact number earlier this week and it's more than one per day, every day. Not bad for my first year, I think.

Why are your ranges so low?
We would starve at 200 signings per year. I did 850-900 last year. My wife usually does more than I do, so she probably did around 1000 signings. No, we are not low ballers.
