SCAM ALERT - 315-329-6161
Just got a call from someone saying he was from Microsoft\HP and that my computer was infected. I just purchased a new HP so I listened very carefully. He wanted control of my computer to fix the virus. I said no because I had no way to know who he was. He gave me a phone number (315-329-6161) to call to authenticate. Did a little research and this is a scam to actually download a virus and then charge you to fix the problem.
Just be careful.

The number is currently on switch number SYRCNYSWDS3 (switch is a technical specification for phone hobbyists) .
Around 50% of people reported it as "Scammer"
The number has a total of 2 complaints filed against it.

Wow! I received the same call! The caller said he was from Microsoft and said that they were getting an error messsage from my Microsoft Windows operating system and asked if i was in front of my computer. I told him thats not possible--i have a Mac. They immediately hung up. Ha! True story-happened Thursday.
