If I get call while on the road, I let 'em know my quote is based on certain elements. If there's a change in that criteria when I am able to look up location and/or when I receive docs, my quote is subject to change. If they're forewarned, it usually avoids a PO'd client.
Totally agree with you though. Hazardous conditions do merit an increased fee.

Yep Yep Yep!!
Always smart to inform the scheduler that the fee quoted is based only on the job discussed. And if the job received is different from what is discussed, the fee will be re-negotiated. Now you're covered if:
(1) the scheduler really didn't know all the details but wanted the signing booked
(2) the scheduler withheld the details to get you to agree to a lower fee (i.e. single refi vs. reverse mortgage)
(3) the scheduler flat out lied about the details (i.e. single refi, 2 signers, no fax backs, 100 pages, 15 miles one way distance vs. single refi, 200 page pkg., 75 miles one way distance, 100 pg. fax back, 3rd BO signer so print another complete set BO copy).
