Air head or what
GNW..Client comes to me to redo a POA he had completed two years ago in Va. He gave his sister POA to hand some affairs (income property) because she was still there and he now lives here. It appears the city is doing some roadwork and wanted to get the owner of the property to sign a waiver of some sort. They would NOT accept her signature as AIF BECAUSE..........the notary stamp (commission date) has expired! In Ca a POA stays in force until the person revokes it or dies, is it not the same in Va?

Interesting!! Don't know I have never came across that. Is the original notary still a notary?

Well in all fairness, I had that happen here once also, it was a car dealership. 84 year old non driver paying cash for a new pickup. Wife had POA (he didn't drive).. They said her POA had expired for the same reason.

Goes to confirm that people have no idea what a notary does, or the purpose of a POA.
