Brother 8710

I have a brother 8710 2 tray printer, one tray for letter one tray for legal. How do I program it to print PDF loan doc files legal and letter without having to switch trays manually.

I don't know about your printer but my 2 tray printer can only do one size at a time . Hope you have better luck. I was not happy to find that out.

I don't have that model, but MOST Brothers are set up like this: IF you already have your 2nd tray installed ( recognized by the printer as a 2nd physical tray) , and designated it as holding legal paper, than all you should have to do is click PRINT on a .pdf file you know has 8.5 x14 docs, CHECK the box that says " choose paper source by PDF size " and hit print. If this doesn't work ( it should ), post back with your computer info, operating system, and which version of ADOBE .PDF READER you have. Version 9 NOT 10 rec.

Re: Adobe

I guess as long as you have ten installed and it is workig successfully, I'd leave it alone. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it. I usually don't upgrade versions unless something doesn't work anymore, or there is something spectacular new. I believe others have had some probs with 10. YMMV

Re: Adobe

So, do you have the full 2nd tray? I f you don't I STRONGLY suggest it. The pia factor of switching paper grows old VERY quickly, is time consuming, and one false move and you've damaged the tray and entire machine with it. With lower tray you push the print button, POOF your done, MACHINE does the work. The LT- 4200 can be expensive bought as a stand alone accessory, but carefull shopping and coupons can lower the price. I CAN GUARANTEE YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Re: BASIC QUESTION 1ST BEFORE MY REPLY ABOVE

DO you have a LT-5400 true 2nd tray (it is an accessory and would NOT normally come with an MFC 8710) installed on the machine, it physically sits BELOW the 1st tray and is NOT the pull ot 50 sheet tray, holds 250 sheets just like the 1st tray. If you do, then follow above instructions.

Re: BASIC QUESTION 1ST BEFORE MY REPLY ABOVE

I have the LT5400 tray and it holds 500 sheets of paper. Tray one is set up for legal and tray two is set up for letter. Got the tray for $140.00.
