Food for Thought

Considering having an all inclusive flat fee. This fee would cover Edocs, fax backs, and basically everything. If there are no Edocs, fax backs, etc, fee remains the same.
Has this been tried? If so, what were the results?

My fee structure IS a flat fee...

One fee for my home county, one fee for outside my county

Includes printing 2 copies, travel, time, and minimal faxbacks. If mandatory faxbacks it's $25 more because I have a 30-mile round trip to drop the package.

I don't nickel and dime the fee - I don't have the patience for that kind of math - I know how much I'll print and how far I'll go for those fees - anything in excess of my limits is additional.

Re: My fee structure IS a flat fee...

I suspect most of us operate that way, with a base flat fee, as long as expectations remain within certain parameters. Like Linda, my base fee assumes edocs, but not more than a few pages of faxbacks. Over a certain number of pages or beyond a certain amount of travel is extra. (I also typically charge a nominal extra fee for Spanish signings.)

Naturally, as everyone's circumstances are different, each person needs to figure out their own norms - and what they are worth.

Same here regarding base fee. Extra for Spanish, extra for fax backs. Extra for any extras. lol

Re: All inclusive fee

With most title companies I work with, my fee is all-inclusive. Doesn't matter the page count or faxbacks. They call, I accept and my fee is in their data base. No fuss, no muss. With SS's, if the page count is over 125 pages, the fee goes up. Mileage, fee goes up. Faxbacks, fee goes up. This all includes extra expenses and time on my part. I'm going to charge for it.

Re: Does anyone charge extra for engineers? ;)

Having worked as office mgr/bookkeepr for 2 large engineering firms-----YES charge extra if you can! They smell fear too. But that doesn't mean they aren't nice people, just picky picky...similar to many dr.'s. Skills honed, etc. all good traits, unless you're presenting the signing package they haven't examined previously....for the most part.
