HL-5470DWT - a few weeks ago someone posted a
message saying this printer would indicate that it was out of paper when in fact it wasn't. I searched and could not find the message, Anyone?

I am having the same problem with my HL-5470DW. It also makes a clacking noise..very loud, sounds like something's going to break. (I had this problem with 2 of these same model printers, so I don't think it is a defect). Any ideas on what could be causing the "clacking?!

TY all. found msg but didn't really answer my question....
I was, however, able to figure the problem out. Once again, thank you!

Most likely the clacking is coming from a worn roller inside the machine itself that needs to be replaced. Sometime soon, the printer won't pick up the paper. Google replacement roller for your model. They're sold aftermarket and provide instructions!

Re: Robert, here's where I sometimes get parts
But MistarellaFL...this clacking can't be a worn part on my printer, as it is only 3 weeks old?!

Bad parts sometimes come on new equipment
Or, if your printer was reconditioned and not "new", it's replacement before sale might have been overlooked.
The symptoms sound like a bad roller/separator to me... I have been using Brother lasers for 10 years and it is a common failure with them.
Either way, if your printer is warrantied, I'd send it back for repair or replacement.
