Legitimate Company Business

Yesterday I wrote that we should do more diligence on companies by asking for proof of their business license, and other verifications. This is no huge task. Someone said they would prefer to rely on SC...for other members feedback about these companies. Problem is they often don't show up because the owners have notary membership and can't be listed in SC.

It's not a big deal to request a copy of a business license. If a company is licensed in the city where they operate, the license should be clearly displayed in their office. They can snap a picture of it and send it to you on their smartphone. Easy Peasy.

If a company is legitimate, they will have no problem complying with this simple request. If they don't have a business license, maybe they don't plan to be in business very long, it's just an experiment.
