I may have missed an opportunity. They have never agreed to pay more for the distance, or should I say, never offered.,In all actuality, in there defense, I did not even ask, being month end, Holiday with traffic, could be 6 hour turn around,,I figured I am better off staying close on this day.

Always tell scheduler what your fee for that particular job is. Don't let them dictate to you. It's your business - not theirs. Then, the ball is in their court. They can either accept or "get it approved." BTW, most times at EOM, they do call back with approval. Wink

They always ask me what my fee is. Then tell me they gotta get it approved and 2 mins later I get an email confirmation and phone call.

Re: SL called for a 200 mile round trip.

My experience is that if they are desperate enough they WILL pay for the travel. A 200 mile round trip is typical for me, but you can darn well bet I charge for the service. Some of the smaller services freak out over it, but SL will pay if they are out of options. In my experience, if they are calling you, they know darn well how far away you are and what you might charge. I know when they call me, they've exhausted all of the cheaper notaries and know they are willing to pay up.

They called me today at 3:30 for a signing outside my

home county for 5:30 - first words out of their mouth was "we'll pay extra"

So I believe they will pay if they need it bad enough - which is a good thing. Unfortunately, I was not available no matter what the price was.

Favorite words from SVL when they call me... "By any chance do you happen to travel to _______??"

Score!!! Right there tells me they are desperate and all I see is $$$$ Smile
