I think I've seen brown onions referred to in the grocery stores fairly commonly - or else my brain just automatically does the translation... The onion itself is yellow, but the skin around it is brown (which, btw, gives a very nice color to chicken broth...) Don't know if this is an Arizona thing or a So Cal thing, but I think I've called them brown onions most of my life. Do you recall seeing that in Tucson, Yoli?
