Looking outside my window we have a huge oak tree. Perched about 15 feet up was a juvenile bald eagle ripping apart a small alligator yesterday late afternoon. He sat there for over 2 hours until was too dark to see him. The Eagle about 3/4 grown, just getting his white in, we have 2 in this neighborhood I believe must be siblings.
He must have picked the little guy (16" or so) up from the pond and had lunch in the tree. From watching him, gators are very tough to tear apart, but he didn't waste a scrap of it. Gotta love nature. |
