Posted by Sha/CA at 10/30/2013 8:38:00 PM | What would you do? My neighbor, born in Canada, has dual citizenship and wants to have his California born daughter receive her dual citizenship. I told him that I cannot certify photocopies of his CA/DL, passport or his birth cert. (which the Canadian government wants him to send). I suggested he write a letter with all the requested information on it and I could notarize his signature on the letter with an attached acknowledgement or jurat. The Canadian gov't info sheet he showed me says to have a Notary Public (there is a list of others not so easily accessible) certify the photocopies. I searched and did not easily find any info here that would apply. I don't think this is one of those apostile things which the SOS needs to get involved with, is it? I'm not clear on that process. I trust some of you will have a valid suggestion, as you are some of my best resources. |
| | | RM Signings in SC has a bad policy, but a four-star rating. Posted by Sha/CA at 8/12/2013 6:15:00 PM | I took a signing at EOM, checked SC before I accepted, noting their four-star rating. Completed signing 100%, no problem. Borrower exercised their right-to-cancel. I found out when the SS emailed me the week later, with their contract attachment with their email, to tell me they only pay 50% of the signing fee if RTC exercised. I Googled the owner and called to remind him, I had accepted the assignment on good faith, that the ratings in Notrot were important to all of us, and that I had checked before and if I had known their policy before the signing, I would not have accepted. I promised him I would disclose payment here when received. So, one week later I was paid my full fee. Now that I have had this experience, I will be asking first if they have contract, and take a look at it before I get too far into working with a new signing service. One question I did not ask was, "What do you pay if the borrower exercises their right-to-cancel? G-whiz, do I have to ask everything, all the time? Lesson learned. |
