Question - what would you "assume"?
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 12/5/2013 5:50:00 PM
Get an e-mail asking if I'm available for an REO closing for date and time.

That's it - so I ask "Yes, I'm available, what kind of signing"

Response: "REO"

Umm...what would you assume is involved with this - an REO

I know - sounds stupid - but I've had REO cash purchases, REO purchases with loans, etc etc - that's what I was getting at but all I got back was "REO" - is there something I should have known??

Never worked for this company before...btw - so no track record of how they work.

TIA

Posted elsewhere but a major "Hrrmm" moment
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 11/12/2013 12:17:00 PM
A notary posted elsewhere that she received an e-mail from you-know-who containing an account number and password for someone else's BGC - names weren't even CLOSE.

So much for protection of information.

How do people do this?
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 11/6/2013 5:56:00 PM
I know..only down here -

Had a signing this afternoon - lady had told me during confirmation call she had current ID..

I get there - name on ID is not what's on docs and she has nothing else - now I know this happens but this specific event just boggled my mind.

She WAS Jane Smith. Got divorced 6 years ago, and her maiden name was restored but she never put anything into her maiden name. Everything remained in her married name.

She bought this current house AFTER her divorce - yes, still using married name.

Last October (2012) her license comes up for renewal and she decides to revert to her maiden name - Jane Jones.

She has nothing else current in the name of Jane Smith - and this loan app was taken and went all the way through underwriting with her using her married name.

And they worry about us at the table. Sounds to me like the loan officer really dropped the ball on this little game.

Good grief.

CA notaries - this should make your day
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 10/10/2013 5:12:00 PM
"California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. has vetoed a bill that would have required the state’s Notaries Public to report instances of suspected financial abuse of elders and dependent adults."

ISS Notary - all I can say is WOW
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 10/7/2013 7:16:00 AM
Read elsewhere, but for basis see Msg #484843

ISS Notary now puts you in charge of fee's. YOU SPOKE, WE LISTENED.

Hey Everyone. You may remember the discussion that arose a few weeks ago regarding ISSNotary.com. Mostly the issue's being raised were regarding fees but we were getting some other feedback as well from other clients. We kept hearing the same thing over and over from signing agents and signing companies, "Your software is great, but we need more control." The crux of the issue is everyone has different fee's and their own clients. Instead of getting in the way, we have decided to offer our software purely as a management system. We're thinking $35 a month with a small charge per signing. We've already struck a few deals with local signing companies here in Arizona but I wanted to reach out and here what you think. What our software offers:
-High speed uploading of documents
-Automated notifications to every party when signings are scheduled/delayed/completed
-Web dashboard showing what stage every signing is in scheduled/signed/enroute/etc...
-Automatic invoicing upon signing completion
-integrated chat feature to communicate with title/loan officers
-archiving & reporting of completed signings.
-Custom Branding to your signing business (for additional fee)

I'm really excited we've made this change, this way you get the benefit of the software while still maintaining control of your business. I look forward to hearing your feedback! Email me for details:

PHH Mortgage - Jacksonville
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 10/4/2013 7:15:00 AM
Laying off over 300 people in their mortgage department due to drop in apps as a result of higher interest rates - all layoffs are in the mortgage origination area.

Just heard on news.

Hated to do it but had to ask a title company today
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 10/2/2013 5:16:00 PM
to not call me any more..they've called me 3 times in the last week - 80-90 mile trips, faxbacks mandatory...$75 (my fee for that kind of travel is $150 without faxbacks).

Told the girl today - who sounds very very sweet and is always nice and polite - to please just take me off the list and don't call because I refuse to travel 120 miles (add 30 miles for faxbacks) without being compensated.

Time to develop a Plan B...I think I'm getting tired of this.

I will never understand the thought process
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 9/30/2013 10:43:00 AM
Why do companies call for a signing, leave a message to call them back about a signing in such and such a city, you take the time to call them back 5 minutes later and they found someone else.

If you're not gonna wait for my call - don't leave a message and waste my time.

Mutter..

Vent over. Smile

Question about TS Training Modules
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 9/25/2013 3:12:00 PM
Anyone have trouble accessing them? I've received 3 this week - yes, one per day which is annoying to say the least - and I can't get the course to run.

I run Windows XP and Internet Explorer (never a problem before); cookies enabled, scripting enabled, Flash Player updated AND IE updated (unnecessarily).

Any ideas? TIA

Gotta love SS's style and tactics in scheduling call
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 9/16/2013 9:37:00 AM
Get a call -

Caller: "Are you available Wednesday in Lake City? "

Me: "Yes"

Caller: "Okay, I'll send the confirmation right over"

HUH?? No discussion at all as to what type of signing, fee - nothing - so I tell him whoa whoa hold on a second - and start asking my questions:

Turns out it's a cash purchase 15 miles away (30 rt) - give him my fee of $xxx for that (travel, faxbacks, securing funds, etc etc) - Response is oh...have to get that approved as it only pays $75. Well, sorry, but not on my schedule it doesn't.

Jeez..

Don't forget it's Labor Day Weekend!!
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 8/28/2013 9:05:00 AM
#1 and most important - all be super careful out there.

Labor day is not counted in calculating rescission dates - so anything closing Thursday or later won't fund until at least Wednesday. Also, check your couriers' pickup and delivery schedules - I know around here I have normal shipping out on Friday and Saturday but packages won't be delivered until Tuesday.

Have a great weekend all!!

Interesting finding today..or maybe I'm just slow
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 8/4/2013 3:30:00 PM
well, no maybe about it..but anyway

Sending docs to a company that solicited me...I use a W-9 with EIN and, when requested, I send a redacted copy of my driver's license with PII blacked out. I'm attaching my NNA BGC....hrrmmm, just for giggles let me take a peek...

Sure enough...my driver's license number and my social security number are plastered all over the NNA BGC. I never realized it before....

So I redacted that and sent that. Anyone who hasn't looked may want to check their NNA BGC. And for the record, the NotRot BGC that I had done only contains an identifying file number...no social or DL # included... Smile

Learn something new every day.

I just got the most bizarre e-mail
Posted by Linda_H/FL at 7/18/2013 3:20:00 PM
from Real Advantage LLC....a vendor setup package (citing fees below what I charge) and reminding me to advise of status of a closing I have no idea about...also attached is a Purchase/Sale Agreement for property in AZ, executed by Sellers and Buyers in AZ - dated 2011!!!

Now, I can see they may have sent it to the wrong notary - obviously; but a PA Agreement dated 2011??
