The Certified Signing Professional
Posted by FGX/NJ at 12/3/2013 6:24:00 AM
From the SPW Intellectual Property Rights Policy page

The Certified Signing Professional designation is the sole and exclusive property of the SPW.

Looks like Certified Signing Specialist is now CSP.
I had advised them that I have used the term Certified Signing Agent on my web site since at least since 2007.
It is not TMd but constitutes prior usage, which could prevent the TMing of the term.

The CFPB Ombudsmans Office provides an independent, impartial, and confidential resource to informally assist consumers, banks, and nonbanks in resolving issues with the CFPB.

We appreciate your sharing this information with us. You may also want to share it with the CFPBs Whistleblower Office, which is staffed by Enforcement Attorneys. They can be reached at: whistleblower@consumerfinance.gov or (855) 695-7974.

The week link

The only unregulated component in the signing process are Signing Services, no license, no Commission no nothing. They present a real threat to borrowers information. Where is the CFPB on this if all these steps the NNA is proposing are supposed to be for the protection of the borrower.

A web site I set up just to show how worthless certifications were.
You had to have at least 5 years experience and had to have done min. 500 signings and pass a multiple choice test with 10 questions.
I got 100% on the test I wrote.
ps
I used this tern because my lawyer did not like the word "Agent" being used by a Notary Public

Dear Sir/Maam
A number of large lenders and title companies have set up an organization named above.
The purpose of this group is to set standards for independent mobile Notaries Public who act as "signing specialist" for mortgage loans and refies to meet the CFPB requirements for protecting the borrower(consumer).
You can find these on their web site.

One issue they avoid is their use of middlemen to hire Notaries, which is cost effective for them. These middlemen are referred to as "signing services". They are unregulated and unlicensed by any federal or state agency. They are the weak link in protecting consumer privecy.
The banks and title comoanies are regulated by federal and/or state agencies.
Notaries Public are commission Officers of their state.
Over the years there have even been cases were individals with criminal records have set up as signing services.
Many notaries have been defrauded of their fees. Sometimes they just disappear or file bankrupcy and reappear under amother name. Thes people have access to the borrows confidental information.

This practice shoul be forbidden and the banks and title companies required to deal directly with Commissiond Notaries Public.

Respctively submitted

Ineresting quote from SPW
Posted by FGX/NJ at 11/3/2013 10:50:00 AM
"The Standards have been formulated to address regulatory requirements, state law compliance, consumer satisfaction, and consistency in the delivery of notary services. The Standards will help define the expectations lenders and title companies in vetting and managing the mobile Certified Signing Specialist. Certification providers that provide background screening and examinations represent and warrant that the Signing Professional meets the minimum qualifying criteria established within the Standards. Certification providers will not be responsible for validating the Certified Signing Specialist status as a commissioned Notary Public in their given jurisdiction."

THEY will provide BGC and give exam BUT do not check to see if you are a Notary???????

36 States could lose obamacare subsidiaries
Posted by FGX/NJ at 10/29/2013 5:47:00 AM
The LAW states clearly that subsidiaries are only for states that set up their own exchanges.
An IRS ruling said that it applied to all states. There are a number of lawsuits challenging this ruling.

"The Affordable Care Act offers subsidies in the form of tax credits to people who buy insurance through exchanges "established by the state," and the case comes down to what Congress actually meant by that. The Justice Department is arguing that Congress obviously meant all the exchanges, and that the Department of Health and Human Services intended to "stand in the shoes of the states that allowed the federal government to run their exchanges for them, according to The Washington Times. The challengers are arguing that the Internal Revenue Service ignored the wording in the bill when it publicized that applicants on both kinds of exchanges would get subsidies. They also believe Congress used the subsidies as a way to motivate states to create their own exchanges, meaning the states that didn't create their own exchanges are out of luck"
