Customer wanted me to actually place my stamp on the one page. I told her I was unable to do so as there was no notarial language/certification/jurat. "But my bank always just stamps the document." I was shocked when she told me. I explained her choices of the jurat or acknowledgement, she selected, I notarized and off I went. Quick money for 5 minutes. |

Emailed TC that I took exception to their new policies and procedures and asked them to review the IRS Form SS8 (thank you to Sue Harke) and to IRS.gov/Business/Small-Business (thank you to Marian in CA). Mentioned in email that I remain an IC and not an employee. Received a call from a different scheduler, not even a manager, that another notary will be assigned to closing. TC scheduler felt my email was confrontational and I mentioned I was stating facts. Scheduler refers me back to IRS Small Business website and states that it is permissible for TC to set forth rules for accountability of finished product.
Discussed with scheduler I have no problem being accountable, and I always have been. I take pride in my work and correct any error on my time and my dime. TC is aware my work with them has always been stellar. Scheduler was confused as to why I sent my email. Said guidelines are just a matter of accountability. (Really? I'm asking myself at this point). I asked to speak with a manager. Scheduler will have a manager call me at their convenience.
These new guidelines were implemented just a few months ago. I have not heard from this TC in many months. Shocked when I saw their reduction in fee list.
I would like an amicable resolution, but I'll need to speak with a manager. So, for now, it looks like TC wins unless I bow to their list.

We learned today my mom only has a couple of months. Several more closings yet this week. Having a hard time concentrating. Seem to be on auto-pilot. How have you handled your situations? Do I turn back the settlements and spend time with my mom at the hospital? Although ---- she would want me to take all the closings I can manage. Any advice is appreciated.
