Crawford and all of Warren, Forest, Venango, Mercer, and parts of Clarion, Elk and McKean Co. I don't do contingent fees. No signs, no funding and recissions are not in my control.*
Signing Agent 10+ years. I print docs with HP laser and download with DSL. NNA Cert. and background check expired, but my abilities and experience are not expired. Money is tight (I think we've all noticed) due to slowdown in industry.
*Please note regarding fees - No contingent fees; no-signs, no-funds and rescissions are out of my control. PA Notary Law Section 19(3)(e) (57 P.S. §165) states “Section 19(e) No notary public may act as such in any transaction in which he is a party directly or pecuniarily interested. For the purpose of this section, none of the following shall constitute a direct or pecuniary interest:
. . . (3) receiving a fee that is NOT contingent upon the completion of the notarized transaction.” (Emphasis added). Therefore, my fee cannot be contingent upon the completion of the notarized transaction. If I present documents to borrowers and they do not sign or later do not fund or rescind, I am to be paid pursuant to the Pennsylvania Notary Public Law since I cannot even accept an assignment if my fee is contingent upon the completion of the transaction.

I am a Notary Signing Agent, but I wear two hats. I am also an Energy Broker for North American Power.
As a Notary signing Agent, I am a realist because I have seen hills and valleys in the signing business. I should say mountains and gullies, since the entire 12 years I have been doing notary signings I've felt like I was on a roller coaster and wonder when the industry will stabilize. I often wonder what is normal in the settlement business. I've seen settlement companies fail or file bankruptcy and new ones sprout up over the last 12 years.
And when I think of what your business and mine will be like when the settlement industry stabilizes, I realize that the hills and mountains will turn into plains (and hopefully not gullies). The times when money was no object are already gone. Money is definitely an object and when the settlement business slows to normal a penny saved will be a penny earned.

Electricity in Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Maryland has been deregulated, and this means competition in that industry and competition means savings to consumers.

It is my understanding that North American Power will also be competing in the natural gas industry in the future. I personally look forward to that day, since I've already learned to turn off lights to save on electricity, but you can't turn off the heat.
