Long Time
I am trying to stay in the loop here. I haven't posted in a long time. But do companies really think they are going to get a notary to go to someone's house to sign loan documents when you know they are making $125.00 to $150.00+ for just calling and scheduling a notary to go to their borrowers homes. $45.00 dollars is crazy especially if you have to fax them, take you time driving to their homes, wear on your vehicles, pay your own taxes. Some signings take on average especially a refi. about 30-45minutes if the borrowers know what they are actually signing. If there are problems they may take 2 hours or so. I have actually had a signing take 2 hours due to it being after hours and the borrowers having so many questions. Many borrowers don't realize when you go to their home you don't know alot about their loan.
I don't know if anyone has noticed but their doesn't seem to be always a standard set of documents on a signing unless you repeatedly work with the same lender/ title/ escrow company.
I am just curious why notaries actually would except anything less than $60.00 or $75.00 dollars ?

I think that a lot of companies call Notaries that have never done a signing before and offer them the $40 or $45 dollars.
If you have never done a signing before, and know nothing about it, being told that you'll be paid $40 to $45 to notarize a few docs and that it should only take you 30 minutes tops, seems like a lot of money.
I can't see experienced Notary Signing Agents accepting $40 or $45 to do a signing. They know what's involved and how long it really takes, and a lot of time that includes fax-backs.

While i've been in the escrow and title business for 17 years, I just recently began mobile notary doc signing. I agree that the notary fee should be at least $75.00 or more; however, it is difficult breaking into this business unless you can be competitive and there are notaries out there that will accept $50 or even less. Once I establish myself and prove my experience to the different web-notary services that I am associating with, I will possibly consider raising my fee. Nothing compares to exceptional service and I think most companies will pay for it, but you have to prove yourself first. Just my lil' ol' opinion.
