Retraction of Msg #334
The message posted has the appearance of an advertisement. This forum is not to be used for that purpose, for which I offer my apology. By the same token, I would like to offer a word to all who post messages to this board, and for our consideration.
1. This medium is a wonderful tool by which to become more proficient at the service we provide. Others like it are commendable as well. We ought to take advantage of every opportunity to grow in the knowledge that is availed by these mediums. But there is a flip-side, which leads me to my second point.
2. This medium if used incorrectly or abusively can lead to our untimely demise in the industry. We post messages, which, once posted are in public domain. They are no longer private thoughts, intentions, opinions, or communiques. We cannot screen out who the reader will be. Oftentimes, if we post the wrong things, there may be (and often are) dire consequences in the future.
Please construe this as just an opinion. But be assured that it is an opinion worth considering. Never forget, that we are exposing ourselves to politics, right or wrong, we are exposed. And if we are going to deal ethically, then, we as Notary Public, or public witnesses, we have to be real careful about the information that we share via this particular medium, or any other mediums for that matter. The mentioning of names in connection with adverse experiences with organizations can affect our careers as Notary Publics or Signing Agents. Such activity can also have adverse effects on the positive outcome of any potential litigation, which might occur. In other words, loose lips, still sink ships. Furthermore, it's not the most professional thing to do.
We all have a right to speak freely. But the privilege of doing so has its own set of consequences. And just as we have the right to speak freely, we also have that same right not to be so free with our speech. Though the latter requires the exercise of restraint and more self-discipline, it is preferred. And will pay you dividends in the future.
You never know who read these messages. Nor do we really know to what organization they really belong. So, when we find certain doors closed in our faces, this message ought to come to our remembrance.
This medium should not be used for the purpose of blasting anyone's character. Nor denigrate any organization's standing. There are other means (more professional), that we can employ to validate the point, and make it known in a a manner that will not detract from your individual character.
We should always seek to share that which will uplift and encourage, to empower others to do better by the knowledge and information that we share. Never, should we tear down or be negative. I know some may not want to read this, or to be told this. But if you think that the people that you are doing business with is not reading it, then do yourself a favor...and change that way of thinking. Because I am stating both facts and truth.
As I stated earlier, it's just an opinion. But dare to consider it.
Best successes to each of you, as you do what you do.
