Nations Direct

Who's doing these $30 signings?

NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND! Don't buy into these low ball offerings. We've got to take a stand. Personally, I don't leave my driveway for under $75, and I do pray this spreads among all of you out their to protect our livelihood as professional loan signing specialists. $30....you may as well go get yourselves a job at Taco Bell, pays better and you get free food!

I have done several signings for $30 because the are only 10 pages in the documents and only one documents needs to be notarized. If they give about 3 or 4 a night it's well worth it. Each signing takes me about 15-20 minutes. The $40 signings are also alright on a free night when they can give you a good amount of business. I have spoken to notaries that group together and do the $40 signings and they are completely booked every hour of the day!!! So is it better to make $150 a signing for once a month or make $40 for several signings in a day for a whole month? So I think that some of you are losing sight of the main objective which is to make some money. And besides, the main requirement to get your notary license is to take one measily little test, and some states don't even require that. So I am not sure how you think that passing one test entitles you to $75 to $100 an hour. So baiscally you can sit around for your $75 companies to call you with their couple of signings that they get, or you can get up off your pedestal and make some money. Your choice..........................

the believer actually boasts:

Methinks NotRot has attracted a ringer for Nations Direct, or someone suffers from both a proclivity for exaggeration and a lack of any business sense.

Believer #2

I got my start with Nations Direct and personally don't like to work for other signing services. Nations always pays on time, they are very polite and helpful, and I make a decent profit off of all of the signings they give me in my area. Besides, I think it is inexcusably rude for people to be bad-mouthing a company that clearly doesn't deserve it. God forbid they attempt to make it in such a competitive business arena. If they're such a terrible company because they pay $40 a signing why are the the #1 signing service in the nation right now? You people are missing out on a good thing.

You have the right to your opinion regarding Nations Direct but please don't ever attempt to direct your opinions to anyone else but yourself. I used to do $50 signings then as I got more efficient (99.999% accuracy), I asked for and received more money for my expertise. When I first started out, I was the "clean up woman" and getting $50 to go out and fix other notaries's mistakes. I thought that was wonderful!

I do believe that some of you who advocate lesser amounts are actually signing agencies in disguise and that, my friend, is rude and cantankerous.

I don't get it...isn't the object of an opinion to direct a point to others? I don't appreciate being accused of being a liar, and that, my friend, is what is really rude and cantankerous.

IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

I do happen to see your name posted several times throughout this message board. I guess you $150 or $75 per signing companies must NOT be keeping you very busy.....

The believer snipes:

***I guess you $150 or $75 per signing companies must NOT be keeping you very busy.....***

I guess that's relative. Eight signings this week for a littlle more than $800. That's busier than I wish to be. I have wanted to be lazy, I have worked hard all of my adult life to be lazy, and at my advanced age I deserve the privilege of finally being lazy.

Along with your dyspeptic disposition and deceitful ways, you don't happen to own a big chest (to offset the little mind), liquor store, trust fund and bass boat, do you? I might be persuaded to overlook the former for access to the latter.

Why are some of you so bitter? You don't have to do the $40 appointments if you don't want to, but you don't have to whine about it so darn much!

Re: IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

I would not call it bitter, but we all work hard and we should be compensated acordenly. SS should not get away with making 200 or 300 dollars a signing and pay us 40 dollars and then sometimes not pay us at all. Our expences include many things. Doc's usualy come directly from lender so what is the expence to the ss. They dont have to print drive ect.

Re: IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

So it's always going to be a constant battle between us and the SS's? That's not fair. They have to make their money too. I work hard, but I don't feel like I'm cheated just for getting $40. I'd rather get a bunch of closings for $40 than one or two a month for $75. We all have to make money somehow!

Carrie continues to grouse:

The signing services are not cheating you, Miss. This is a largely capitalist system and they're making a buck; not doing it the best way, but doing it the way they wish, which is permitted. They are not cheating you. You are cheating yourself.

Re: IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

I do not feel the least bit cheated, and I don't appreciate your implication. Isn't it my choice to decide who I work for? U.S.A = Free Country. They make their money, and I make mine. I don't have a problem with them trying to survive in this business, and it's rude to be so bitter and upset that they're just trying to make their money too. Like I said before, I would rather get a lot of signings for $40, than a few a month for $75.

Re: IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

Lets see how you feel in a year when these same companies are offering you $25 or $30 for the same signings. We're not bitter and upset, we're competent business people who understand how the cost of doing business works.

You enjoy your piddly pocket change while it lasts because it'll be gone soon enough. Ironically enough it'll be gone because of people with exactly your attitude.

Re: IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

Oh, so is that why they've kept me in business for over 2 years now? Hm...that's interesting. "Competent" business people? That's a riot. How many signings would you say to average a month? I understand the "cost of business" and I also understand compromise. Meeting half-way and coming to a mutual understanding. I cover my costs just fine, thank you. If you ask me, some people on here have WAY too much time on their hands. I guess their SS's just aren't keeping them busy enough! That's too bad....

Re: IN RESPONSE TO " HISHUGHNESS"

Accepting $40 for a signing is not meeting halfway. It's bending over and willingly taking it up the rear. Exactly how low does their offer have to be for you to think it's too low?

Ever heard the phrase "work smarter, not harder"? It's not the number of signings we have at the end of the month that's important, it's the total amount of money we've made during the month that's important.

Time to retire it

"you don't happen to own a big chest (to offset the little mind), liquor store, trust fund and bass boat, do you?"

Hugh, the liquor stor/bass boat thing is a horse that is twitching on the ground begging to be put out of its misery. Please stop flogging it and let it die a dignified death!

I'm stunned, Cal. If someone had taken that attitude about horse's asses, you would long ago have ceased to grace our presence. I don't think I could face that prospect; you're like a member of my own family. At least the two of us share the same end of the horse.
