24-7 National Notary

I had a charming encounter with this company today. I've never been thrilled with them by any means. They're kind of a pain in the butt to deal with - will deduct from your fee if you don't report your signing by 6am, call you on the day of the signing to confirm that you're going to go to it, will NOT pay above $50 for a signing. I gave them a $55 rate one time and they wouldn't agree to it, so I didn't take the signing. And they're pretty slow to pay.

Anyway, they pop up every now and again with a signing. I had one in March, one this month. They say they issue checks during the first week of the month for all signings in the prior month. I still haven't gotten paid for my 1 March signing, so I called yesterday to find out what was going on. Spoke to Marla, but I didn't know the exact date of the signing. She said that if it was later in the month, the check wouldn't have been issued during the first week because it wouldn't have been in the print queue yet. Told me to get the date and call back and they'd look into it. BTW, I had called the day before and left a message on the main voice mail which wasn't returned.

I found out the date was March 9, called back today and got transferred to the accounting voicemail by Andy (who apparently also works in accounting, so I think he just didn't want to deal with me). Since I had already left a message 2 days before with no return (and they've never returned my calls other times in the past either) I didn't leave a message and called back.

This time I got Liz. She told me that she couldn't help me because they had 200 loan signings to process that day, and that I needed to just leave a message and it would be returned next week (!). I told her that every other time I'd left messages they were not returned, and that I really wanted an answer has my payment was now 3 weeks late. She told me "that's not so, if you left a message....." I cut in and said "it IS so, nobody has EVER returned any messages I've left with you guys".

Somewhere during that sentence she hung up on me. Didn't say a word, just hung up. I called back, dialed the operator extension again, somebody picked up the phone and immediately hung up without saying a word. Needless to say, I was quite shocked and not too pleased.

So I called back AGAIN, this time hit the extension for the scheduling department where Morgan answered. I explained what happened, told him that I found it completely unprofessional and unacceptable, and asked for the name of Liz's supervisor. He told me that there was no supervisor, that Liz was the top person in the company. I'm not sure, but I assume that means that she's the owner.

So that's my story. The OWNER of the signing service hung up on one of her notaries TWICE because he had dared call and ask where his 3 week late payment was. BTW, I hadn't even given her my name during the call, so she really had no idea who I was, nor did she care. While I've always thought the company kind of sucked, I really didn't think that they had that little regard and respect for their notaries.

Needless to say, I won't be doing any more signings for them. But I really DO hope that they eventually call me for another one because somebody will definitely get an earful. And probably just hang up on me in the middle of it :)

I don't like working for them either, but they do pay. But not until much later. I did one on 2/12 and paid on 4/2. I use them as fill in as I am really busy. Its a net 45 pay cycle. Yes a pain, but you will get paid down the road. I still have one open for Residential Signatures, they don't call back either and I did that one on 1/14. I love what I do but playing Guido once a month is a strain. Good Luck

Pattijay -- I did one for Residential Signatures back in February (I had to visit the client 3 times ($150 plus personal funds were used) and just received the final check yesterday (4/28). This is how I handled the situation. I went to NNA website and copied the demand letter and forwarded to them. In addition, I copied the Title Company and my attorney on the letter and faxed it to them. I hope this helps.
