Signers asking for Notary Identification
I have been asked twice in the last month to show my identification to signers when I show up at the door. I have no problem showing my identification, but I do have a problem with signers taking information off my drivers license such as my address. I now show my notary commission certificate and a notary identification card, I feel safe and I think the signers feel safe giving you their information. Tell me how you feel about signers taking information off your drivers license and keeping it for safe keeping, I don't feel safe. I hope the signers don't drop in for a cup of tea. (smile). I am single and feel very uncomfortable.
E-mail me on information on how to obtain a Notary Public Identification [e-mail address]

I always give them my business card which includes my address/phone #s. I have never had anyone ask for my license and I woudn't like anyone writing down my license #.

Re: Signers asking for Notary Identification-Paperwork?
You are coming to them, after you have confirmed appt. on the phone and mentioned their Lenders name. You have all of their documents in your briefcase. Who else would they think you were?

Re: Signers asking for Notary Identification-Paperwork?
I've had two signers, both elderly, ask for i.d. in the past 5-1/2 years. I even got a follow up call from one elderly couple, verifying that the card I gave them was really me! I don't mind showing my i.d., but I told the second set of signers who requested it that it was not okay to copy my address or i.d. number. I also give my card (which does not have any address) at each signing.
