Available 24/7

Can someone please explain this to me. Yes I know what 24/7 means, however, I've seen this on many signing agency's questionaire and I'm just wondering, has anybody ever done any signings at 1am, 2am, 3am or even 4am?????

Re: Available 24/7 Redonthehead

Redonthehead,
How much do you charge the after hours requests?

I have had calls at 10:30 pm for an emergency 11 pm signing. I have gotten home at 1 am. I have gone out at 5 am (pre early mass or leaving early for vacation). Welcome to the "end of month" or "we need that loan to close now to fill the secondary market sale requirements before tomorrow morning" world.

More important that you put the Real Times that you are available. It saves the schedulers wasted call time and you wasted answering the phone and refusing time.

I've done some second shift folks at 11pm or midnite, did another at 6am. I had a call at 12:30am a few months back for a fellow who HAD to have a form notarized so it could catch a 5am FedEx flight. He came to me so could only charge him the standard Ohio $2, but he gave me a $23 tip!

That's very interesting folks. Thanks for the replies. I wasn't aware that it actually happened.

Elizabeth, These calls come from one signing service that sends me a lot of work. If it's an emergency, I will usually ask for an extra $25. They never bulk. If it's just another signing and not too terribly late, it's my regular fee I charge them. The signing could be a mile away from me or 30 miles away, I will charge them the same because they are consistent and I know I will be compensated.

Thanks redonthehead - I needed to get a feel of pricing just in case I decide to answer my phone at that time.

Yes, I have done signings at 3am. The borrower was going on a business trip out of the country for 2 months and needed to refi. He was preparing for the trip at his office and didn't get home until 2:45am. We met, signed, and he was off for a 5:00am departure. Good thing I didn't miss any signatures on that one Smiley I don't do a lot at that time, but every once in a while they come up. Yes I got extra for that one. I don't have a set rate for signings that late, I just negotiate at the time.
