FedEx
I am trying to sign up, to be able to get supplies, etc. They are asking for credit card information, etc. Is this the correct way.

Yes. They require that you have an account with them in order to be able to order supplies even though you don't send docs back using your account. It's really convenient to have your own supplies that way you prepare online shipment and after you're done with the signing you just drop it off at an authorized location.

I just pick up whatever I need periodically from a drop box or a service center.

For Edocs that are legal size, you need the legal size envelopes. The drop boxes only have letter size. I have a FedEx account and ordered the legal size envelopes. Signing companies do not like it when you use the "tyvek bags" they cost more to ship then a cardboard legal size envelope.

I always use the tyvek bags, and those are what the signing services usually send to me as well. I haven't had any complaints about it.

Transcontinental Title Co. REQUIRES that you not use the tyvecks, but a legal size envelope from fedex to ship to them or they will cut your fee. I think they started this when Fedex strted carrying a legal size envelope not too long ago. They have a BIG PRINT WARNING about it in every pkg they ship now.

FedEx has had legal envelopes for a very long time. It is not something new. They "new" part is that they are now reusable envelopes that can be used twice. However, the new ones are also thinner cardboard and do not hold as much as the previous envelopes.

The company "usually" supply you with the envelopes, etc, to send docs back. Do I incur any cost? Please explain.

I encountered this problem also not wanting to give my credit card information since the signing companies give their account numbers. I called the FedEx Customer Service and spoke with the billing department and was set up on weekly invoicing. I now have a regular FedEx account and was able to order supplies off of the internet. The only time I will receive an invoice is if I do use my own account number. This was definately the best option for me since I wanted to be sure funds were not being taken from my account. Hope this helps...The number is 1-800-325-4267 and ask for New Accounts. Good Luck!!!

You need to keep a supply of envelopes and airbills for docs that are emailed to you and other occasions when an envelope might not be included. The SS/title company will provide your their account number for billing.

Just wanted to add a note to this if you have you're own acct # be sure to put the leanders name and address in the section for "Sender" if anything goes wrong like the acct number might be wrong ect... they will bill you and charge your acct. Don't think for a minute that this can't happen, learned from experiance.

I've been a FedEx customer for over 10 years and only once have I had a reverse billing. And that was due to my own mistake in entering the recipients account number.

Re: FedEx...explaining response to your question
Bob, If you receive the docs overnight, there is almost always a return envelope with an airbill.
If you receive edocs, occasionally part of a confirmation page preceeding the actual docs has an airbill; however, often the account numbers of FedEx and UPS are on your confirmation page.
It is wise to keep legal size FedEx & UPS envelopes and airbills.
**Like others, I pick mine up at Mail Boxes etc or at a FedEx UPS Store. Just be sure to write down their account #; I have never incurred an cost for shipping the docs back.
I hope this helps.
