Good paper...cheap paper what what????

Hey folks, what type of paper do you buy for the e-docs?????? Do you buy the cheap all purpose kind or do buy you the more quality type of paper that costs a little more??????????? I'm just wondering.

Or.......does anybody actually "BUY" any paper???????????? LOL

carlosnyc,

I buy it in bulk at Sams Club. Never had a complaint from anyone.

I buy the cheapest I can find, usually Staples brand by the case. At the going e-docs rate of $25, that's a bargain. I figure that if they want the good stuff, they can print it themselves.

To question "Hey folks, what type of paper do you buy for the e-docs?????"

My answer: I buy legal size paper by the case at Sam's.

I am curious about this question, in the above post:

"...does anybody actually "BUY" any paper?"

Even if it is said for silliness (and, I do like silliness, a lot!), I am interested because I have seen similar posts on other forums. In all seriousness, I wonder am missing the point of the post. Where else would you get paper?

At Office Depot, if you turn in a printer cartridge -- any cartridge -- you get a free ream of recycled letter-size paper.

Thanks, Hugh. I could not figure it out!

I am refilling my cartridges. It's so easy, and cheap, too.

Sylvia should get a commission for recommending www.tonerkits.com! I appreciated getting the link and bought a case of toner right away.

response to tonerkits.com vs printer warranty

After talking with the people from HP about my printer...I asked the nice Pakistani fellow from another country...If I don't refill using HP toner does this void my warranty...he said yes! The printer is less than 2 weeks old. Of course I need the warranty. Anyone care to respond. Is there a way around this? I won't tell! Steve/Fl

Re: response to tonerkits.com vs printer warranty

I do not know. It might void your warranty. It costs about $8 to refill a cartridge. My logic is that everytime you save $70 on a toner cartridge, put it aside for buying a new printer.

I figure after four refills I have paid for the new printer, plus some. I print lots of docs and could not stay in business if I had to go by a $70+ new cartridge each time.

HP has to say that because of the megabucks they make on new toner cartridges.

Re: response to tonerkits.com vs printer warranty

Makes sense...$ and cents! That was the question I had how will HP know or could they know that I was using toner refill as opposed to replacing HP print cartridges with original HP cartridges? Answer...they don't know. I will check out tonerkits.com Thanx Sylvia & Brenda

Re: response to tonerkits.com vs printer warranty

Of course they are going to tell you it will void the warranty. They want you to buy their new cartridges.
I have been using refills for about a year now without any problems.

When I started using them, I asked my husband about voiding the warranty. He said there is no way they would know I had been using refills unless when I returned it I had a refilled cartridge in there.

But, never had a problem, and it is now out of the warranty period.

Something worth looking into

I do not pretend to be a computer or printer guru, but here is what I did, for whatever it might be worth.
I leased a digital printer, copier . fax combo with dual paper trays.
The lease is at a reasonable amount per month with no down payment. After three years
I can turn in the machine and get a new one or purchase it at a fraction of its cost.
Because it is digital, the toner costs are minimal. I have a contract with the company that I bought it from, that provides for unlimited toner and full maintenance at a cost of one cent per page. They just replace the drum and assocaited parts after about 125,000 pages. The cost to me was 0. I usually use about 5,000- 8,OOO copies per month. From what I see on the boards. this is a much lower per-page costs than is incurred by most NSAs. That is why I can accept e-docs (aout half of my business) at a bit lesser cost, if necessary, and still make money on the assignment.
Quality is about as good as you can get, prints very fast, I don't need to run out for copies, and faxes print well enough to be used for recording (if you cut off the header) While the machine is printing or copying you can send faxes. Faxes that come in while the machine is printing are stored in a hugh memory and printed upon completion of the current application.
If you are planning to be in the business for the long haul, you might want to check with a local office equipment dealer, (not something like office max) and look into it.
I have not mentioned the brand deliberatly because I don't want to seem to be touting one brand over another. I would imagine that all of the major manufacturers,(eg. cannon, xerox, HP, brother, kyocera-mita, etc. make comparable equipment. I am aware of the HP print driver issues, but , since I boutht my new computer with a pentium 4 and windows xp, I have not a problem printing any docs. and they come in under all kinds of print formats.

There are people of all ages, sexes, and persuasions out there who are peeing in their boots at the thought that "hugh memories" are available for lease. Not many of those memories are going to be "G" rated. I'm curious about the one you got, Bob. Wonder if it was the one about that time a few miles outside Matamoros when...uh, never mind. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

We would both be better off doing something worth remembering in the middle of the night , instead of posting on message boards.
I have been in St. Louis in August. You are much better off sitting in front of your computer , rather than swimming through the air.

At my advanced age, one doesn't do much of anything at night that is worth remembering. In fact, the most memorable thing for most of us geriatrics is the morning trip to the bathroom.

You mean you don't remember the late night trip(s)?

Last evening I was propositioned for the first time in a long, long time. And in front of my dear wife, too boot! She was unfazed, to say the least. She told the young lady to go ahead, but be advised that she (my wife) would be calling the local constabulary to report an "assault with a dead weapon".

My wife, while no less sardonic, is a bit more topical. Of late, she has been known, after a glance in my direction, to refer to a "weapon of Ms. deception."

OOPS

That St. Louis reference made no sense
I was thinking Dennis. (Needed my first cup of coffee)
I know that you are in Texas. The suggestion to remain inside in August, still stands. , however

I've been confused with a cat burglar, a homeless bum, a scam artist and a leper, but never with a Republican. That's scary.

Austin in August vs St. Louis is August? That's like comparing Mike Tyson to Miss Manners as etiquette advisors; Austin just eats a lot more raw ears. (There are those of you, I suspect, who may not understand the reference to raw ears. I would suggest you be grateful news of that episode passed you by, and inquire no further.)

Bob, please email me ([e-mail address]). I have some questions about your lease and would like to send you a simple test file to see if it prints properly on your equipment. Thank you.

It could be "borrowed" from the workplace if somebody has an office job.

LOL, thank you CA_Notary, that was what I was insinuating.

But thanks for all the replies. I'm glad I don't have to go out and buy any good paper. I usually go to Staples and buy their brand of paper.

Borrowed ??? I don't see where the laughter comes into play. It's employee theft.

Chill out. It's hypothetical employee theft so we can laugh about it if we want.
