United Notaries
United Notaries called me 2 weeks ago to do a signing. I was in my car and Michael said he would look it up by zip code. it was 30 miles from mine. Ok $50.00 min. Sent a confirmation to my e mail address. I checked and it was well over that and called back and Michael agreed to $65.00. Did the signing. Called a couple days later by a Deseria and agreed to a signing 65 miles away, But was agreed I would be paid $65.00. Confirmation came in at $50.00 I asked that they change it. That was approved. Then I get an e mail tonight saying sorry they made a mistake and there was another notary doing the signing.
I will not work for unethical signing companys any more. I told this to 24/7 and now United Notaries. If we keep working for these guys we are nuts!! Not doing it any more!

The last 2 months- I started printing out a lot of the "real good stuff" that I felt would help me downstream- as a kinda " ready reference" file. I categorized the info- and I have one folder that says"BAD COMPANIES" AND ANOTHER THAT SAYS " SIGN UP WITH ASAP". My list for both folders is growing daily- I'm trying to avoid potential pitfalls, and learning from everyone experiences. Appreciate your input.

I just completed my first signing for United. It was an edoc loan. They called at 6p and I did the 2 hour signing at 8p. The agreed to rate was $85 and after 4 days I did get the rate confirmed in an email - it just took alot of follow up. I have just submitted my invoice...so we'll see if they pay on time...expected after the 15th.

They called me the next day and asked why I did not go to the signing. I forwarded the email that their person sent to tell me they had gotten someone else. Then they wanted me to go but I was booked, but did get another notary friend to do it. They do pay when they say they will but I've had it with signing companies. I only use them if I have a slot to fill. But I have been incredibly lucky with title companies, they rock!

You'll do a signing 65 miles away for only $65? Wow. 130 miles round trip, 50 cents per mile. I, as well as many other notaries in here charge $1.25 per mile.

I think 50 cents a mile is nuts myself. Don't you value your time a little more than that?
