eDocs

Since email addresses are a dime a dozen, other than having the necessary memory for storage what stops someone from using their email address to receive eDocs, also provided they have the proper print capabilities too!? As long as these 2 capabilities are more than sufficient (am I missing something) isn't receiving/printing eDocs easy? Steve/Fl

Internet connection is an issue. DSL or cable connection would be the best, as dial up will take 15 to 30 minutest to download, this would include Dynamic Doc etc.

Waiting for the docs to arrive can be an issue. They are not always on time, making one late for an appointment. Not to mention the wasted time.

Really there is noting difficult about edocs, just sometimes they are a PITA!

Okay I got the idea! The one thing I did leave off is provided you do also have a high speed connection also! As dial up would be a pain. Thanx for the feedback. Steve/Fl

Connection is important

My brother & I have the exact same printers, computers etc., but he has a dial up connection. Quite often, during the 10-15 minutes it takes to downloading pdf files, they have become corrupted on his computer. He calls me, I download in seconds with no corruption of the file & print on my end.

Based on this being the only difference in our offices, I would say high speed is definitely necessary.

Re: Connection is important

Even with DSL, things can be slow. If you have access to cable modem, like Roadrunner, then I would look into it.

Re: Connection is important

I think it depends on your area.
I used to have Roadrunner, and I got rid of it and switched to DSL. It is faster here.
Roadrunner was fast when I first got it, but as they had more people sign up with them, it slowed down and it looked like my dial up was faster than roadrunner. (plus Roadrunner wanted extra each month for each computer hooked up to it), so I switched to Bellsouth DSL, it is a lot faster and we have it on each of the computers without being asked to pay extra.

Re: Connection is important

I agree. The more people on line with cable internet the slower it operates. And since a majority keep their PCs up and running 24/7 it can really slow down the system.

You also have to look at the cost factor. Most cable operators charge far more for both cable TV packaged with internet access (at least here). And our cable TV rates are extremely high. I switched to Direct TV to get a savings on my TV bill. In fact it has not gone up in over 4 years while cable rates have risen by over 60% in 4 years. And our cable provider has a very poor record of service. It is actually cheeper for me to have Direct TV and DSL service than the combined cable package. While cable may be faster at first, it will slow as more and more sign up. My DSL, on the other hand, has remained at the same connection speed with VERY LITTLE down time.

Re: Roadrunner charging more for additional computers hooked up - use wireless networked computers - works great!

Re: Connection is important

We did Barbara - but the point I was trying to make was RoadRunner wanted to charge extra for the extra computers, Bellsouth didn't.

But the real reason we cancelled was that the service was just too slow.

Re: Connection is important

I got DSL in March and I can’t believe the time it has saved me just with edocs. Down load time is usually less than two minutes. Now if we could just get the docs on time. Well I can dream can’t I?
