help! with e-docs

I thought I was all set up to receive e-docs. I've got cable internet access, a fast computer and a fancy multifunctional laser printer. HP Laserjet 3030 to be exact. I signed up with an agency who wanted me to register with DynamicDox. Okay no problem. I go to print out the test package which contains both letter and legal size docs. My printer does not have two paper trays ;( Does anyone know anyway to print both on this printer? Does it matter if I print all the docs on legal? Thanks for all of your help!!!!!!!!!

in most cases it is OK to print on all legal size. Check with the SA first. I always ask if it is OK and only once was told to print the mortgage on letter - all other docs were fine on legal.

99 and 44/100 percent of the time, all legal will be just fine. I have never had a problem otherwise. If I did have the time (this is before I had a two tray printer), I would cut the mortgage and possibly the note (if they were letter size). But usually not. Unless there are specific instructions to the contrary, just print on all legal. I wouldn't even waste the time to call the SS or title company to ask if it's okay.

You can cure this problem by going to Staples, etc. and buy a $20 paper cutter. Paul is correct that 95% of the companies want them all legal (or will accept legal paper). The paper cutter is a way to get around 2 trays.

I think the industry is going so much to EDOCS (Duh!) that in 2005 some will require 2 trays.
We will see what happens.

Re: help! with e-docs - I have an HP3330

To change paper size on my printer, I hit the menu key on the printer, then scroll either using the arrow keys or menu key and change the paper size to "legal" from "letter". Your tray should have a slide that adjusts to accomodate "legal" paper. I also make sure when I go to print/preview on my computer that it shows the correct paper size so the document fits properly on the paper

Check with lender or signing company most are fine with legal for all documents. Hope this helps.

When printing from your PC, you do not need to manually change the paper setting using the LCD display control panel on the printer. Only need to change the paper. Of course, the "manual" setting should be what you normally leave in the printer.

When making copies, using the scanner on the printer, again, you don't need to change the paper since through the control panel, just press the "Paper size" option button in the "copy" group of buttons to "temporarily" change the paper size to what you need.

For example, I keep letter size in the printer. That is what is selected as the "default" paper size as entered through the LCD display control panel. When printing on legal size from Acrobat or any other application, I simply change the paper size in the "printer playout menu" on the PC print dialog and change the paper in the tray. When finished printing, replace the paper in the tray with letter size. Same as when making a quick copy of a legal size document. Simply press the "Paper Size" button, switch to legal, make the copy. The printer will reset back to the defaults.

The 3300 series printers do not have a size adjusting slide at the rear of the tray, like some printers do (2nd tray on a 1300 for example, but not the primary tray). Just the paper holder slide in the front.

I typically leave about 1 inch of legal paper in the tray with an inch of letter on top. That way, to print on legal, I simply remove the letter paper and print away. Works like a charm.

NOTE: This conversation is based on the HP Laserjet 3330mfp. Your printer setup my be different.

I have never been able to print docs from DynamicDox...they are the only ones I always have problems with. I also have a 3030 and love it. Why legal?.....seems to be a lenders call, some don't seem to have a preference. If anyone knows knows of a legal requirement I'd also like to know. I couldn't see paying for a 2-tray printer since this is my only business and it was a lot of money to support only one Print Utility/Web Site.
