Shanda/Ca ref: Title Searches"- I haven"t endeavored to try that avenue yet- so have nothing to offer- But would like to say to "Annonyn- " When I first began trying to make heads or tails out of this business- I received much help- from Victoria Rings book- and I aprreciate her efforts- You know what they say about "opinions" - everyone has one. I read these forum comments- I accept what I want- discard what I don"t- There is a lot of good info here, from many different people with good input-; some slide in "personal feelings- likes/ dislikes" etc.; but please speak for yourself- not "everybody" feels that way on this Forum about her- I for one don"t.. !

I don't think anyone dislikes Victoria as a person. However she really does not know much about the business. When she first did her "training guide" I looked at it, and it was fraught with errors, and I did e-mail her privately and pointed out the errors. She e-mailed me back and thanked me and said she would take care of the errors.
Paul has pointed out errors in her newsletter, he has e-mailed her about them, and instead of thanking him for pointing out the errors and correcting them, she just unsubsribed him from the newsletter list.
She also published that Sign on the X was out of business, then had to publish a retraction. She should have checked the information before publishing that they had gone out of business.
She does not have a good credibility rating among the veteran, experienced signing agents.

Personal wise, I believe she is a very nice person.

For additional information you might try the message board at www.sourceoftitle.com. They have frequent discussions about the high cost of insurance, competition, low fees, and companies that don't pay.

Victoria Ring doesn't see a need for title searchers to have E & O Insurance and she is sooooo very wrong there - plus, I doubt you'd even get an order if you didn't have it. She feels title searching is just like doing geneology (sp?). I'm sure glad she didn't do the title search so flippantly on any of my properties. So, I'd heavily discount ANYTHING she has to say about title searches since I'd imagine she has never even done one due to her E&O comment.

As a Title Agent I can say this, If you do not carry some type of E & O insurance you will not get the work. Victoria Ring should get her facts straight as usual. It is for your protection that you carry insurance! If you are not yet a corporation then incorporate now. This will reduce your personal liability, the E & O should be in your corp name.
