DHL/Airborne

Not too long ago there was a thread going on about DHL/Airborne. I never had that much experience with them at that time. My Christimas present from my husband this year (I'm not a kid any longer, so I don't have to wait!) is a new 17" flat monitor from Dell. We've ordered many computers and accessories from Dell and never had a problem with any FedEx shipment because they don't leave anything if we aren't home, and they require signatures. However, for economic reason, I assume, Dell has begun using DHL/Airborne. My monitor was not only delivered to the wrong address, it was delivered to the wrong street and left outside in plain sight the entire day with DELL all over the box, even though Dell specifically required a signature. The shipping label clearly said XXXXX Stuart Place and it was delivered to XXXXX Stuart Street. Fortunately, the man living at Stuart Street is honest and delivered my monitor when he got home at 8:30 p.m.

Dell is giving me a pretty decent credit because of this delivery mixup -- probably just to get me off the phone. However, this delivery snafu will definitely make me leary if SS's or Title/Loan Companies require the signing docs be returned using DHL/Airborne.

I had a nightmare time once with receiving a loan doc delivery from DHL ... not looking forward to having them deliver again!

They lost one of my package and it ended back in Orange County and back to my address again. The signing service had to email me the documents and it was two days after the signing was over before the package arrived in my front door again. Never will I use DHL and I advised the SS to not use them again.

Re: DHL/Airborne - extra fee

I have one company that I do signings for where they use DHL. I've raised my fee $10 just because of that. There is only one DHL drop box for every 5 UPS or Fedex box. It's an extra 10 miles each way to the DHL box - AND they never have any supplies in the box.

Re: DHL/Airborne - extra fee

I have one title company that uses DHL, I just call and have them pickup. Never had a complaint so far about calling for a pickup

Re: DHL/Airborne - extra fee

It's not the pickup I'm worried about -- it's what happens once they have it, and what appears to be their poor record at getting it to the right place, plus their inability to follow instructions and just leaving the package without obtaining a required signature.
