Mojo entry
Hello everyone, Two questions for you... I can't get use to using the check boxes on the MoJo book so I write each document name out, which is fine for me. I was wondering how everyone uses it? Question 2. In the fee section, do you enter only the total number of documents that you notarized and multiple that by $10.00, or do you enter the total amount you charge in a lump sum? Thanks

1) Learn to use the check boxes - it will save a lot of time. 2) The total fee. In the blank space under the check boxes, I write in the total notary fees which you will need for tax purposes.

When you say the total notary fees: is that the number of documents you notarized?

$10 for each signature in an acknowledgment, $10 per person for a jurat - refer to section 8211 Fees in CA's Notary Public Handbook.

How can you not get used to using the check boxes? You just check the box, there's nothing to get used to.
I don't use the fee section of the book.

As CA Notaries, we are required by notary law to write in the amount of notary fees we collect for this work, $10 per signature per document, for example, 3 sigs, $30.
You should be using this section of a journal.

You're absolutely right. I've been tracking the notary fees in Excel with my payments, but I didn't realize that it was a requirement for the journal. Now I do, so now I will.

CaliNotary -
Please remove all your valuable jewelry and leave it in a secure place. Within the next 30 minutes, there will be a band of Notary Police to take you in for intensive questioning, and perhaps further investigation in a dark room with a bright light in your eyes.
Have you underwear size readily available, as well as your ancestry for 3 generations back.

I thought the police only came when you put the stamp upside down? I must say that I do like the thought that they're interested in my underwear though.

Re: MoJo entry - Time?
I did review the MoJo long enough at the SoCal networking mtg to see if there is a place to enter the time each notarization is done. If you just check a box for the document notarized, is there also a place to enter the time it was performed? I can't tell by the picture - it's too tiny for mine old eyes!
