Newbie questions
Hi, I just passed the california exam. I am of course waiting to get everything in order to be commisioned. I have not taken a class, I only read the book. I have been reading some postings and was wondering what type of signings there are.
What is an e-doc, I understand the email part, but if they are deeds etc doesn't everyone have to be present? I am just a little confused, and want to make sure I get some help before I get my commision.
what do most of you do frequently? Deeds? I am not sure what you mean by closings? Sorry if I sound clueless, but I don't know the lingo yet. Any help would be appreciated. Also how to get started. I am a fulltime student in the evenings for law also, but only work p/t during the day.

Advice for new notaries
Above the menu of posts, click the "First" button. Go all the way to the very first post in June 2003, "Welcome to the General Discussion Forum." Read all the way to the last post today. You will find your answer many times over in the intervening messages, along with far better information about being a signing agent than you’ll ever get from any certification course.

Waaaaay off topic
Charlotte bubbles:
***Well it's been along time since I have seen you post that hishughness! You've been letting everyone else do it for you. Now we know you are back!!***
Thanks, Charlotte. It's nice to feel alive again. I actually got telephone service today, 16 days after SBC prematurely cut it off. Ted_MI, if you read this, please e-mail me at [e-mail address].
What an interesting day today.
Woke up this morning on the sofa with Lucy, the Chihuahua, cuddled up next to me. Had lunch with a girlfriend of several years ago (she actually left me for her husband. Faithless wench!). This was a beautiful woman when we were together. Today, she's gained 80 pounds. That's the third ex-girlfriend or ex-wife who has undergone such a metamorphosis. Makes you wonder.
Found I was really enjoying the solitude in my own place. Then I got an e-mailed joke from my daughter which reminded me of why I was enjoying the solitude. The joke follows.
Changing a Light Bulb With Menopause Q: How many women with MENOPAUSE does it take to change a light bulb? A: One! ONLY ONE!!!! And do you know WHY? Because no one else in this house knows HOW to change a light bulb! They don't even know that the bulb is BURNED OUT!! They would sit in the dark for THREE DAYS before they figured it out. And, once they figured it out, they wouldn't be able to find the ! light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD for the past 17 YEARS! But if they did, by some miracle of God, actually find them, 2 DAYS LATER, the chair they dragged to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME SPOT!!!!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE WRAPPER THE STUPID LIGHT BULBS CAME IN!!! BECAUSE NO ONE EVER CARRIES OUT THE GARBAGE!!!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE THAT ARE A FOOT DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE!! IT WOULD TAKE AN ARMY TO CLEAN THIS DAMNED HOUSE!
I'm sorry.... What was the question?

Hey Slim,
Now let's be truthful here. You are not only looking for a rich widow, but a skinney one with big boobs? Hon, what is that rich widow looking for? Companionship, no matter how witty and charming--dream on.

ND,
I read the article and feel obligated to say that it is filled with half-truths and falsehoods. I have no idea where the author got her info, but she needs to find a new source! It is very misleading to any who may not know about this business. I even think that it was worse than the NNA, and that is saying a lot!

Jon,
I can't agree with you more, but in generality, I though it would help answer the questions that Novembersea posted. My purpose was to direct the her/him to the site where there are other topics related, not just the article itself.
Of course, one has to reconcile the information he/she read with personal experience as part of the learning process.

At the risk of sounding mean, did you take Hugh's advice and read from the beginning of this board? It would clear up alot of your questions, and give you sufficient knowledge to START learning this business. Certified means you took someone's class on signing and they gave you a certificate that says you are certified. There is no industry standard, so you can make it worth whatever you want. You would be better off looking for someone who has experience in loan signings to mentor you.

yes I took advice and read about 40 posts. Some of the posts lacked specific information and I felt that I should ask to be sure, instead of wondering and doing the wrong thing. Thanks for all of you clearing a few things up and pointing out other points that may be misleading.

"A mobile notary is an attorney appointed by the government to ensure the accuracy of documents in the loan process. "
This was one of the sentences on what a Mobile Notary is from the article. It not be very confusing to someone new, as we spend a lot of time, at least I do, explaining that I am not an attorney, and cannot give legal advice.
