Notorizing True Copies

To those who were following this thread - "Can a notary certify that a photocopied passport & marriage license are true and correct copies" when the original is presented to me.

I called the Kansas SOS this a.m. and the answer is "Yes". I can attest that the photocopy of his foreign passport, FOREIGN marriage license and college diploma are true copies.

Re: Notorizing True Copies - Rules vary by state

Just a note to notaries outside Kansas -

What we can certify varies WIDELY by state. It is not clear in my state's regulation handbook. I had to call the SoS office to find out.

Re: Notorizing True Copies - Rules vary by state

Based on your previous post, your SOS did not address that specifically on their handbook. You did excatly what I would have done and that is to call the SOS office. Since they have told you that, "yes" you can do that, I would be confident to do that if I were you.

Nevada has a different take on this and just like Jennifer said, rules varry by state...follow your state rule on how to handle this.
