Offices closed - where to send package?
Just completed a rush job. Package arrived 10:30 and I hit the road. Soon as I finished I called SS but recording comes on saying that office is closed and will reopen on 1/3/2005. All I received from the SS was a closing confirmation sheet. There are no other post-closing instructions. I don't know who I should return the docs to...the title co or the SS? I don't see any requests for anything to be faxed other than the confirmation (that docs were signed). And there isn't a return FedEx or UPS acct. number.
Should I wait till Monday? It does say that documents needed to be overnight by next day...this must mean next business day, which is Monday.
SS is TL Signing Services...if that helps any for anyone who has done signings for them before.

To cover youself, why not send an E-Mail to SS, stating the Signing is completed-- there are no Shipping Instructions on the Confirmation- and no Billing Account Number either.. I would also Fax the info., and call the office and leave the same message there on voice recorder..
Keep a copy of the e-mail, fax, and also the date and time you called and left the message..
If--a big 'IF'- they check back for messages, you still may get a call-- but really your choice is , as you said "wait til Monday-" call them then-and get directions on how to procede.
Everything is closed down for the weekend- you have done your job-- I would not Panic over it. Thats my thoughts. Have a Happy New Year!

In the absence of a return envelope or any instructions, do the email letting the ss know it was completed and that docs will go out Monday when they tell you where to send them - you did all you could and will be fine.

TL Signing are extremely reasonable folks. I would just fax a signing confirmation to them with a note that documents won't be sent until Monday due to no doc return info. Then call them on Monday and they'll give you the Fed Ex number you need. I've done a bunch of signings through TL and as long as docs are sent by the next business day things are fine.

Thank you folks. I feel quite relieved. I'm new at this, you see...and I'd be lying if I say I wasn't worried. Felt like I should have delayed the signing and go through the docs before rushing to keep the scheduled appt. I knew the borrowers were flexible with their schedule but I had a bad experiece with another borrower when I was 10 mins late, so I was a little paranoid I guess! SS should have told me they were shutting down mid-day. I'm glad there were no problems at the signing or else docs wouldn't have been signed. Lender shut down as well.
Happy New Year all

Whenever I have to call for a Fed Ex number I add the title company and Fed Ex # to a list I keep. A lot of signing services send out jobs for the same title company over and over again and this way I'll have the info in the future and not have to keep calling. With your TL Signing appointment I'm guessing that it was for First American in Concord?
As for delaying the appointment to go through the documents, don't do it. If you happen to have the time and want to do it as a courtesy, fine. Going the extra mile for service is always a good thing for business, but sometimes the title companies don't give us enough time to do anything more than the basics. And when they don't, let it go or you might find yourself getting burnt out on this job pretty quickly.
Remember, it's not our job to make sure that the signing package is correct. If you're in a postion where you're being rushed, then let the title company worry about whether they sent the correct docs or not. Don't burden yourself with an unnecessary feeling of responsiblity. Your job is to get the papers signed and notarized, and possibly answer some general questions, period.

KC - I dropped off a package to the UPS store today and one to FEDEX. UPS store said no shipments leave until Monday anyway and I think FEDEX's website said the same.
Lots of place are not open on Monday so no overnight delivery.
No sweat. You are in good shape.
