Keep your cell phone with you at all times. A pager is a message center. You have to retrieve the message and then back the phone call back. Usually, it is too late for the appt. I have a pager for other purposes and do not use it for Notary assignments.

I have a cell phone, but one thing that is good to have is call forwarding on your house phone. You will never miss a call that way.

I don't even use my house number for signings. Everything is cell phone only, that way there's no confusion or missed called.
