Would you ask to be paid again?

Signing service calls today and asks me to go back out to a borrower's home because two documents "weren't returned" with the package. One is survey aff. and the other is owner's affidavit. I say they weren't in the overnighted package to begin with. They want me to go back(20 minutes away) for nothing! I feel like they should pay me, as I know they weren't in the package.

I would make sure you got paid. If they were not in the package that is their fault. Were they e-mail docs if so you can send the e-mail back to them to show they were not in there...if not then I guess they cannot prove that they were just as you cannot prove that they weren't. I would definetly charge them for going back.
I had a SS send me some e-mail docs once and in the last e-mail it said 2 of 2 e-mails. I printed out the docs and as I was going through the package I noticed some papers missing most important the DOT. I called SS and they said they sent it all. They called the Title company and they said they sent it all to the SS. Make a long story short, the SS scanned in for 3 seperate e-mails and only sent out 2. This was not discovered until almost 2 hours later. I started to stress, then I figured they need to be stressing not me!

Good eyes... A cursory glance at your documents will save you a lot of time in the long run. I have started to save any pdf files that are sent to me, and I also scan in the blank docs sent to me. I keep those files until I am paid for the closing and I delete the files at that point.

I keep a lot of records. I have entire filing cabinets filled with data. All it takes is one piece of information that cannot be found to make a horrible situation even worse...

you could also ask borrowers if they had copies of the missing paperwork in their copies.
If they dont have copies either then the paperwork was never included. Companies frequently
try to get out of paying for the 2nd trip.

What an excellent opportunity to cultivate good will !! I would point out that it is a 20 minute drive, and normally an additional charge is appropriate, but since excellent customer service is my stock in trade and since I'm sure you want closers that go the extra mile, I'll not charge you this time. Whether or not whoever did or didn't include the docs in question is a moot point. I want more business ! (besides, they really don't care what you think)
