You are not a mobile notary? Do you work for this one company alone?
As for average pay I don't believe it matters how long you have been a signing agent. I say this because I am relatively new to the business(almost a year now) but I have 20 years experience working in banking and I have closed/notarized and disbursed 1000s of loans. I have met and mentored new signing agents with little experience who have taken every course available and I feel they are ready and very committed.
Pay depends where you live. I sometimes will settle for 60 within my own zip code but generally it is 75-100. But I live in a rural area with little traffic. Signing Agents in large cities bring in much much more. And they should!
E-docs pay more. But you need to have broadband and a good laser printer to enterprise the docs. I think within a year most companies will be utilizing e-docs.
If you are serious about doing this business full time get your name out there. Join a notary society, I am with the NNA, NSA. From this or other associations you will have to search the company data bases to introduce yourself. This is an ongoing process.....Also go to other Notary Boards and network, network, network. I hope someday all notaries have something similiar to a union and ONE organization which stands by and for us. But until then.....
Don't quit your day job yet. A mobile notary/ signing agent is a thankless and often lonely job. When the market fluctuates you can go from 20 signings a week to mine this week of 5. But the mortgage rates just fell...........................
