Attorney state

Slow day so I was investigating Title Companies in the Memphis area. An agent at Stewart Title here in Memphis stated Mississippi and Tennessee were attorney states and I could not close a loan in Tenn. unless I worked with an attorney. I have been closing with title companies from Nashville and Knoxville. The title companies in Memphis only use attornies. It would be a wonderful market to break into, But HOW. Tia

Re: Attorney state Answered By an Attorney

The nicest attorney from Stewart Title called me to answer the question. In a nut shell..as long as I don't practice law, the witness/notary part of a closing agents job is okay in Tennessee. He talked about some grey areas and then he lost me somewhere in legal land.

I'm sorry, folks. I'm just so unaccustomed to seeing "nicest" linked with "attorney" that I just couldn't stop repeating that part of the earlier post.
