HELP
How long does it take before a SS calls you? I am new to this and I have signed up in all the SS I can find on the web. Is it my location....Southern California?? I hear we are saturated with notaries. What else can I do? I want to go cold calling here in my city, but I would rather have a couple of signings under my belt before I do it. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? I need all the suggestions I can get to be able to go out and do a job. Please you wonderful people out there in the notary world HELP!!!

California is definitely saturated with signing agents, so it may be a while for you to get signings. A lot of companies will already have their "favourite" signing agents who they will call first for signings. Other than market yourself, list yourself on here as a Premiere member and list on other sites like www.123notary.com there is not a whole lot you can do. Just make sure then you send your info to a company, you follow up with a phone call, letting the company know you are available.

That was very nice of you to say......I have alot of homework to do , I swear all I do is constantly read ,learn,study.....Feels like I'm back in school again.... but I just finished my business website for my area ,and it seems to be really picking up for me. Though I have soooo much to learn...........This board is a great source of a ton of experience and wisdom ......I love getting multiple opinions from experienced ,seasoned veterans from across the country.... Re: 123Notary.com
I thought they were pricey too. For the first couple of years I got mostly regular notary work from being listed - and most of the weddings I do are from brides who found me there (In Florida notaries are also wedding officiants), so my listing paid for itself. Now it seems like title companies are finding me on there. So, even new company makes it worth the price of the listing.
I wouldn't buy into their "certification" and training manuals etc, but just paying for a listing is worth it.

Re: 123Notary.com
I have found that you get called quicker from the 123Notary.com board when you are new. I've gotten all of my business from 123Notary.com and I'm not a paid member, they entitle you to a free listing and that's all I did and I get calls for regular notary stuff on the weekends as well as signing and assigned signing.

Hang in there; like you, I am in California & although it is heavily saturated, I do get calls. So just hang in there. Once you start receiving calls for signing you won't have time to spare...it will happen all of a sudden. I hope it works out that way for you. Patience IS a virtue, especially in this industry, so be patient for now.

Yes, I'm in Victorville/high desert area. There are probably fewer notaries up here than in SD, so my business is growing pretty quickly. I wish you the best of luck. :-)
