Looking for work in So CA
Can any of the CA notaries offer direction in finding work? I've applied to a number of online companies, been told I'm "in the network", but haven't had a call out yet. I desperately need to work. This isn't a side job for me. I need to make a living! Thanks for any suggestions!

Mike, I'm in La Verne/San Dimas area. Travel isn't a problem. Trying hard not to get discouraged.

In addition to applying to the companies, have you listed yourself with NotaryRotary, 123notary or any other database?
Also, don't limit yourself to only those companies that have a web presence.
Your area could be saturated as well.

Good Luck
I did a NR search for NSAs within 30 miles a central Chicago and it came up with 80 names. I did the same search for 90210 (why does that ZIP ring a bell) and it came up with 446 names. The population is probably about the same. I don't envy you SoCal guys Register, Register, Register, and then work the phones. Many time I have called "just to make sure that I am still on your data base" only to hear, " Oh, I'm glad you called, I just got a signiing in your area"

I knew that
Also I was there a few weeks ago for a wedding It is kind of central in for the LA area I'm glad that I don't have to compete with all those folks Lucky that NNA is in SoCal and not Chi-town

Re: Good Luck
I've been doing signings for a year in So CA and so far, so good. I think there is less flexibility with fees down here though. If I price myself out of a signing, there are probably 500 other notaries who are willing to take it at the price offered, so I'm definitely mindful of that.
Which doesn't mean I'm willing to work for slave wages. I'll gladly accept $50 signings, but my $50 signing radius is fairly limited. If I can't get there in 15 minutes or less, I ain't doing it for fifty bucks, period. Some companies are willing to pay more, some aren't, and I end up with a lot of $50 signings, but the travel is pretty minimal on them. Works for me!
