Edocs and AOL Mailbox
Doing my first edocs. Can a standard AOL mailbox handle that? If not what about hotmail? Or another suggestion. I am will to subscribe and pay for a larger mailbox if I have too. Thanks. David.

I believe you should have at least 10MB. I think most ISP mailboxes have that. You should be able to check that when you are signed in. If not, I would recommend emailing AOL. I use comcast, and they have a standard 10MB email - they don't provide anything bigger. I have never received edocs that have ever been that big for me to be worried about it. But, I'm no "techie"!!!

I would NOT use a hotmail address for email. First, I don't think it comes across as very professional looking. Second, with all of the spam that shows up at all hotmail addresses, unless you're cleaning that sucker out 3 or 4 times a day you run the risk of having a full box and the docs bouncing back to the sender.

Why don't you set up to receive your email through InternetExplorer that way space is not an issue. You'll still need your internet connection through AOL or Comcast, etc. but you'll download the messages through explorer.

Just a bit of clarification. Internet Explorer does not handle email. However, in Windows systems, Outlook Express is included. Also, there are other "client email" systems on the market. I personally use Eudora by Qualcomm. In order to be able to "download" your email, the email service needs to support POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) and SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) or the newest email protocol, IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol). Outlook Express (and other email programs) will access the POP3 server to retrieve your email and send email from your PC to the SMTP server. Often, these are the same and are designated like "mail.yourserver.com" or "POP.yourserver.com/SMTP.yourserver.com". Use and names depends on your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or wherever you have your email box. Free services, such as Yahoo, MSN and hotmail typically do not support POP3 or SMTP mail services. The "premium" or "pay for" services usually do. Many services are now offering IMAP service as well.
Sorry for the diatribe on email, but I know there are a lot of folks out there who aren't as computer savvy as some others and have asked me about email before.
