Ethics vs. a big raise.

My first call from a signing company may have just changed all my expectations. I am professional and pay attention to detail like any of us should be. The first signing was a nightmare and required me to call the lender for "the real situation" because the signing company did not give me the same story as the borrower (multiple trips, a few pages vs. an entire doc set, etc.). Keep in mind that this lender is HUGE. You probably see commercials all the time. Long story, (no details) short, the lender asked me if I would be interested in leaving the middle man out and accepting $215.00 (e-docs) per signing and having him call me directly because I was easy to work with. WHAT IS RIGHT?

Work with the lender directly

Go direct. The lender solicited you. You did not solicit them.

I have no problems working with lender/title co's who meet me via SSs. Especially pain in the neck SSs.

Non-compete clauses are invalid in many states, including California.

I agree with Brenda!
You did not solicit the lender, he solicited you.
Would be different if you solicited him.

I work mostly with title companies, some of them I used to work with via a signing service, but they then contacted me directly.

Go for it:)

The Only Question Is...

...how fast can you run? (to give the lender a positive response that is!)

Thank You. I feel much better knowing I am not underminding our profession.

You're Welcome & Can I Make A Suggestion?

I normally make it a practice to not reply to anyone who posts anonymously. It's my belief that if someone's not willing to post their name (or at least some close variation thereof) where they can be identified by that moniker in future postings, then there's something amiss & I refuse to be a part of the "charade". My suggestion is for you (at the very minimum) to post your first name & the state you're in. Your credibility will increase immensely & the likelihood of future responses from me will be greatly enhanced. Of course, there are those on this board who'll now post anonymously just to avoid any contact with my linguistic style (it's been described as bombastic). That's their choice & the choice is yours as well. I hope you'll join the majority of us who do use their real names on this & other message boards.

Re: You're Welcome & Can I Make A Suggestion?

I understand. I have posted before with my full name and state but for this topic I was very hesitant to do the same. The company that contacted me said, "Hi, this is so and so signing co. and I just got your number from notary rotary..." So I stepped back and thought why in the hell would I put a rope around my neck and stand on a two-legged chair waiting for a stiff breeze? If they use this website they probably read the discussions (it's good stuff sometimes). How hard would it be if I gave all the names, dates and other information to pinpoint me? Anyway thank you for your response. We will talk in the future and after a while I will tell you of my identity.
