Getting Started Questions
Hello, I just got my commission and am trying to get started part-time. I am a notary-public and do not have much training as a signing agent. Should I be nervous to do my first signing with not much training. Please give me some advise on how to get started, trained, and do a good job. Any info would be appreciated. I used to schedule these closings at a company so I know the process but would like as much info or even stories about getting started as a signing agent. Thank you in advance

look at this site, Victoria Ring gets slammed by some people, but look at this web site, it can prove helpful. http://www.50statenotary.com/training/index.html

I agree with Lisa. I had invested $100+ in a loan signing course before my first signing. I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of info provided.
I have since bought Victoria's book and I wish I had had that before my first signing. It provided more info for someone just starting.
Good luck.

I am new also, haven't had a first signing yet. I have been a member of NNA for 11/2 months now no calls. I went to Victoria Rings site and downloaded her free book. I got some good information from it. I will order her book also. And, join her site. any suggestions on other companies I should join? And, save money.

Irma, 1-2-3 Notary is a good site. They had offered a free listing when I signed up in May, it was based on the fact that my area didn't have many listings.
I don't know if they offer that anymore but it is worth checking into. I had gotten several jobs from that listing almost immediately after registering. I'm also finding that these forums are great for learning about the "real" stuff that the books and courses don't cover. Good luck.

Thanks for your help.
At least you weren't nasty like someone else here was to me.
People forget they were new at one time too. And, help teaches you to be helpful to others. I joined 123 also. Don't know if it went through though. My application was being reviewed. Did they tell you that too?
Bye Bye

Yes, they still give you a free listing if your area has less than 12 people. I just got a listing there.

My friend Cheryl and I wrote a guide to loan signing. How to get the bussiness, how to market yourself, and how to conduct a loan signing. Just scrowl down this page and click on partners at the bottom and you can order the guide off notaryclasses.com. Good luck!!
