Long Distance Closing Advice

I was just contacted for a closing tonight no time set, e-docs, one way 85-90 miles. What is an exceptable fee to charge?

I would be turning it down!
That is a 180 mile RT, and with edocs the minimum for that signing should be $270.

If it is a signing service they are not going to be willing to pay that, if it is a title company they may pay that much (if it is a title company I would ask $300 for that distance and with edocs!)
Anything less, and it is not worth it.

You need to decide what your mileage fee is and just stick to that. I use $1.25 per mile myself.

That's what I use too:) - Plus $45 for edocs.

Works fine for me too.

What would be the average fee for edocs? Do you charge per page, or would it be a flat fee? I had a signing, where they e-mailed the documents to me and I had to print off a copy for the borrowers to sign, as well as a copy for the borrowers. I'm just wondering what is the customary charge for e-docs. TIA!!

I charge a flat fee of $45. This includes the borrowers copies.
Some notaries charge $25 per set, so that would be $50 with the borrowers set.

You will have some companies call you and tell you that the usual charge is $25 including borrowers copies - that may be what they are willing to pay, but it is not the usual charge.

I don't see how anyone would sign something and not get a copy of what they just signed.

My fee for edoc is between $100-125 within 15 miles and I charge in increment of $25 depending on the appt. time and extra distance.

I did a 60 miles R/T signing Friday night for $225 from a lender.

From a LENDER, how did you get so lucky. I need that, but probably not happening until I get more experience in closing, even though I haven't had any serious problems with any signings.
